Potential New Owner. Have a few questions
Hello E39 Family,
First would like to apologize ahead of time if this is not an appropriate thread. Happy to move elsewhere. I would also like to apologize for asking questions, i have done my research and used the 'search' function but now am looking for more in depth answers. Hope this is ok with you all Ok, I'm coming from the E9X community and I've been daily driving my E92 M3 but now have the financial means to pick up a second car as my daily. I have narrowed it down to the following: 2003 BMW 525i Touring 177,XXX miles Automatic Looks very clean Price: $3K - $5K (depending on how negotiations go) Here are my questions (again, please feel free to tell me to return to the search bar if these questions are redundant): - Are the offsets the same for all E39 (ie M5, 5 series sedan and wagon)? - I think I've narrowed down my wheel specs: 18x9.5 +22 square. looking for a meaty flush setup (note: not hella flush). Thoughts? Tire recommendations? 265/35R18? - Also will be running H&R springs. Are there difference sets or am i mistaken? (race, comfort, etc.) - I understand the Automatic transmission is not the best. A replacement doesnt seem too expensive (~$600 parts), but any reliability issues to look out for? - Any quirky things to look out for? (ie gauge cluster LED display) - M54 seems to be a solid motor, is it safe to assume most issues are wear and tear related? I think that is all for now. please feel free to chime in as well if i've missed anything. Sincere thanks in advance and looking forward to being a new E39 owner (been a dream since i was 14)! Bonus Pics of the E92:
