Most comfortable shoe?
What brand do you prefer for shoes for general use? Not for formal use, but like going to a car show or a weekend event where you were going to be doing a lot of walking.

there is no more comfortable shoe than the american cowboy boot. I can even heel and toe in them.

Also a Brooks wearer. But I recently got into wearing zero drop / minimalist sandals and haven't worn anything else in 2 weeks. Specifically Bedrock Cairns and Shamma Chargers - which are only 6mm thick.

I have a running shoe rotation but for casual wear I don't like even the ON shoes for walking around. The reason is that when casually walking and then pivoting around to see things I find running shoe outer soles and even driving shoe nibs can catch or stick to the tarmac and strain the knee.
In the winter I like quality ankle boots with a nice leather or rubber sole and protectors nailed onto the heel and toe. In the summer I like a slip on shoe with a smooth sole - maybe sipes for traction but not a running shoe or driving shoe with nibs of it's outer sole. It does get harder to find shoes. Where race day running shoes are $250 I expect to pay + more for decent casual shoes. |

The best I've found for the money are the Skechers Max Cushion (named Ultra Go as well). I liked them so much I bought 4 pair. I have severely flat feet, and do a lot of walking, so they have helped a LOT.

There is just something about a pair of Vans. In recent years, they have upgraded the soles a bit. I wear Vans almost every day to work, and generally out to dinner on weekends.

Ecco is my favorite brand. I need orthotics and Ecco has that as an option for many shoes.

I don't consider them very comfortable for walking much but the slip ons are so convenient around the house. Now the critical question, sock or sockless?

That's how rich guys do it? Just buy new shoes after every 5 wears? Not I, said the goat. |

I have a pair of Danner Troopers I wore for over 10 years, on my feet all the time, all four seasons, slush, mud, pouring rain, deep snow and summer heat. Had orthotics in them and they were like slippers. I love those things, still wear them for winter boot. I have a pair of Allbirds (the worlds most comfortable shoe, according to their ad) for daily use they're pretty comfortable, and my sketchers for working in the garden.

my every day shoes are nike janoski SBs. i have them in like 5 colors. some slip-on and some tie-up. they have a nice arch and decent cushioning. they just feel a little better on my foot than vans. the most comfortable shoes i own are cole haan with the "zerogrand" soles. they come in a variety of styles from dress to casual. these shoes completely relieved me of chronic back pain and made me a huge advocate. additionally my olukai hokua flip-flops are amazingly comfortable.
