...or maybe maps that come on an SD card or similar. That way you could 'backup' your $400 maps. :wink:

I do admit that the DVD drive doesn't exactly read the data very quickly, but this may be the way the disc has been authored and the way the data has been organised.

You can get a dvd drive for less than $15, this is definitely a cost saving measure by BMW and is very 5 years ago (which is probably when they started developing the nav software).

The new evo x, btw, has a hdd based system.

I also like the .Mac Web Gallery. Looks sharp.

I hope they will make the new telematics feature available to 2008 cars in the US.

Great Pic's, there is not much info out there on the the nav and this really showcased it well. Thanks.. Now I'm glad i ordered the NAV.

Anyone knows what NAVI DVD disk format does the 1 series Coupe uses?
Is it the HIGH version or the PROFESSIONAL one ?
