Feel bad for Charles there, pretty embarrassing.

Maybe he was trying to do a bit of a drift there as has been common and just lost it?

Charles Leclerc told Jacky Ickx after the mishap that he pushed the brake pedal, but that no braking happened. Ickx replied not to worry (see video below from 03:23 onwards).

Brakes no longer operating on a 1974 F1 car = trouble for any driver.

I'm just giving him a hard time. Those cars are not easy to drive and with no brakes it could have been a lot worse with a less experienced driver.

Jacky Ickx could have replied: "That's the clutch, Charles".

Maybe Charles got his yearly Monaco crash done before the actual race weekend.

Not buying it. What a coincidence the accident happened right where the old dorifto can be done and nowhere else.

Michael Schumacher - 2006 - Qualifications Monaco Grand Prix - Incident at La Rascasse corner, a 7-time F1 world champion unworthy - Grid penalty (demoted to last place on the starting grid for the race):

Fully agree that Leclerc's mishap was 100% good faith. Leclerc is a genuinely fair driver.

Actually, he was lucky that the brakes of that 1974 Ferrari didn't malfunction in a fast part of the Monaco circuit. This could have ended bad for Leclerc and those who put him inside that (dangerous) car. Jacky Ickx consoled him after the mishap: "T'as rien" ("You have nothing = you're unharmed").
