F1 2022: Bahrain GP - Sakhir (March 20)

been a long time since the last time i ve been logged in.. i hope everyone is doing ok..

last season's last laps and its ridiculous rule bending saga really pushed me away from F1.. Masi is gone but a whole year also.. its impossible to stay away from motorsports but we ll see if 'F1' can be the F1 as it used to be.. at least for me..

anyways.. first race of the 2022 season is on the way..

here is the program..

It's strange that the only ones that really got a disadvantage of this, being Carlos Sainz/Ferrari, are not the ones that are complaining

For the rest, it's normal to remove lapped cars in a safetycar situation as lapped cars shouldn't intervene with the outcome, so for the 1-2 place it made no difference.
The one with the best/most aggressive pit stop strategy won in this case.
Mercedes lost here on tactics. That has been their weak spot all year.

"Carlos Sainz says the "very strange" circumstances of the late-race Safety Car at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix nearly cost him his third place."
It still amazes how many here think it's OK for F1 not following rules....I'm guessing it's because it doesn't affect their driver's outcome. One wonders if their view would change if it resulted in a outcome they did not want.

Yet they didn't file a complaint/protest.
Only Mercedes did because they lost on bad tactics.
I guess Mercedes gambled on the race finishing under sc, which is a bad bet considering what Masi said the race before, wanting to have the ranking determined as much as possible while racing.
I can't think of another reason, as there were only 3 strategy outcomes during the sc/ virtual sc:
1. Ham doesn't pit and Ver does pit: Ver ends up with fresh reds behind Ham on used whites (this is of course what happened), or:
2. Ham does pit and Ver doesn't pit: Ham ends up with fresh reds behind Ver on used whites..... Or:
3. Ham does pit and Ver does pit: Ver ends up with fresh reds behind Ham on fresh reds.

Clearly the first outcome is only positive if the race ends under safetycar. A very passive approach. Obviously it's best for the sport to decide the outcome under race and not under safety car....

Of course if Merc decided in Hungary to box Ham for slicks like every one else did, he would have won that race (all his direct competitors were out of race or had a severely damaged car), it would have looked much better for Ham in the last race....
What an enormous fail was that..... I wonder what they were thinking when they saw that Ham was the only one on the grid, basically giving the rest of the field a free pitstop.....
Merc is a tactical disaster.
Anyway, lots of stuff to learn from for Merc for the year 2022.

If the many rules and regs were followed to the letter for every driver and car then no race could be run.

Which means rules are not changed suddenly mid season?

Hoping that any and all rules are followed to ensure that this year's WDC is inarguably deserving the award...regardless of who it might be.

I'll put it another way and this time think beyond the margin. If every little misdemeanour was picked up on by race stewards races may eventually come to a stop. It's easy to understand.
A strict overbearing director is not the way to go and Sulayem has made a big mistake in putting in these two.

So your fear is that F1 races will stop....I understand, I disagree.

And....Hopefully , one of these two is awake when HAM is exceeding the track limits ,'29 times exceeding the track limits in one single race ?!?!
IMO , that was a shame for motorsports . But HAM walked with the victory anyway !

Good to see others want stricter enforcement of rules too. Like I said, I'm looking forward to this season.

If HAM does it again then what's the betting that the dark shades will suddenly appear and it's somehow 'inconsistent'.

Then there are those who aren't for stricter application of rules...until they're talking about "other" drivers, in which case they fear the rules won't be strictly enforced. Anyone recognize themselves?

Your statement is actually useless for the well know HAM preachers ..They will never get over it !
I really wonder what they will say when HAM will be beaten by MAX again ...

But you completely nailed it . Well said mate
