Need Help Removing Fine Scratches from Chrome Trim on X7 Trunk

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have suggestions on how to remove scratches from the glossy chrome trim on the X7 trunk? My garage door came down on it and left some scratches. I’m wondering if there's a DIY product I could use, or if I should take it to a professional detailing company?

Thanks in advance!

It's probably not chrome, but polished/anodized aluminum. You can try using a metal polish by hand that is safe for anodized aluminum, but if the scratches are too deep it may require using a machine polisher or stripping the finish.

You can find the part number by entering your car's info at realoem.com - it may be cheaper to replace the trim if polishing isn't acceptable. Good luck!

Or for the safest and least aggressive route, try a finishing or all-in-one paint polish and a microfiber towel first. Is it actually metal or plastic trim made to look like metal?
