U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Jonny Kim has an amazing story. Kim is a NASA astronaut, but that's not all...
As a teen he set his sights on becoming a Navy SEAL and after graduating from high school did exactly that in 2002. He deployed on a number of special warfare combat missions and was a highly-decorated SEAL operator. He then was commissioned an officer and went to Harvard Medical School, becoming a Navy physician. Finally he applied for and was accepted for astronaut training, as part of which he went through flight training, soloing in the T-6 trainer. He then went on to be a qualified Navy helicopter pilot, receiving his Naval Aviator wings in March of 2023. All this despite a difficult childhood with a family that emigrated from South Korea and an abusive father who was shot to death in an angry confrontation with police when Kim was 18. That's the problem with these kids today - they can't make up their minds and stick with anything. Hopping from one dodgey career to the next.
