I love Apple. I've had a 15'' Powerbook for 2 years now. No problems. Would love a Macbook Pro. Congrats.

Keep in mind the MBA is designed to be a secondary computer. If it is your primary computer, I would advise getting the MB or MBP. If not, the MBA would be perfect.

I love my new Penryn 17" LED Hi Res MBP as well. Every time I go to my 20" iMac G5 or my 12" Powerbook the screen looks like crap.

Agreed on the MBA being a secondary computer. For two hundred dollars more, you get a much much better computer and you'll be much happier with it.

Get the MBP... The MBA for me is a disappointment. Its the same speed as my 3 year old powerbook G4. (ran X bench on both my G4 and 3 different MBA in the store and the mac sales guy was shocked) On the other hand for $100 (student discount prices) more than the MBA the MBP blew my G4 and the MBA out of the water.

The slow hard drive and lack of dedicated graphics really kicks the MBA down a notch, and its noticeably slower at opening applications than the MBP.

I've had my MacBook for a year now, I'm never getting a Microsoft based computer again!

Agree! Coming from a windows background, personally i think macs are a lot better. The mac is designed to be very convenient and easy to use.

MBA are not that great in reviews. personaly i chose the MBP as a desktop replacement.

I am on my second MBP and I love it. I would not get a MBA for several reasons (no CD/DVD drive and no ethernet jack being two).

The price also doesn't justify the extra half an inch you save in space. MBP FTW!

no kidding, they already have the touchscreen, the interfaces and dual touch point technology (iPhone & iTouch). Why not just get some good software to go along with it!

Damn, I have been wanting to get the macbook pro for a while now....but the smallest they make is 15". I wish they would bring back the 12"...or some equivalent because I need some portability.

My Dell laptop is dying...so I may just pull trigger on the new MBP...and just deal with the size issue with a slightly larger bag. I wish I could wait...but if this thing goes....its to the Mac Store I go.

Let me know how it feels carrying this thing around.

hey doc,
You might be able to get an employer discount through your work. So don't pull the trigger that quickly LOL... You also might get an educational discount because of your work.

I think through my employer, I get an 8% discount.

Yeah, I do get educational discount + pretax spending account to purchase it.

I was just hoping to get a smaller one than the 15"....only time will tell whether my current one can last.

Please, that is definitely under warrenty if it's a couple months old and I have never heard of this being a problem (I am on several mac forums).

Why not just get it replaced. I have had zero problems getting help from my mac store.
