Suspension set up
Looking to see what suspension setups work the best for the e39. I have to replace both front and rear.
Also, does anyone know where I can get reliable aftermarket control arms for the front/rear? Not wanting to pay "BMW" prices but I don't want to replace them in a year either. Thanks |

make sure you figure out if you have M sport suspension 1 suspension or regular. my 530i has M sport suspension 1. I also used a full kit from FCP for the front and rear struts as well. did all in one go, really brought back the new feel of the suspension and steering. all parts fit perfectly and there were no issues. The rear ball joints were a hassle to get out, hardest part of the whole repair. |

Thank you! I will check on the suspension type. This is my first BMW and I am quickly learning all the quirks. I agree with the rear ball joint after watching the video done by FCP euro. Guess I will need to buy a small press.

Hello!
Has anyone here fitted Eibach Sportline kit to E39 530d? Eibach catalog gives only Pro Kit for 530d and the lowering of this kit doesn't satisfy me. I know that springs fit all E39s, but M57 engine is heavier than petrol engine and 530d is quite heavy car. My concern is that petrol engine E39 springs will be too soft for 530d or it will drop a little too much? Has anyone here fitted Eibach Sportline (for petrol engine E39) kit to 530d and can comment on my concerns? Also pictures will be very appreciated. |
