I guess it's worth mentioning a difference I discovered the other day while detailing my car.
I noticed that the M2c has no air inlets behind the kidney grills compared to the M4. So our intakes suck air from narrow openings behind the lower grill. It seems to be a downgrade since the air has a longer path to travel with more bends to reach the air filters... Anyhow check out the side by side comparison from Realoem |

That elbow is aimed at the kidney grill so directional airflow hits the radiator wall then makes its way through the elbow and funneled into the intake. The M2C sans elbow doesn't have that directed airflow into the hole. So it has to pull from the ambient air in the open space.
