Wifi not working properly
All of a sudden, the wifi on my personal laptop started having no connection most of the time or constantly losing connection when I am downstairs (Router is upstairs), but if I am upstairs in the room w/the router, the connection strength is just fine.
I did not change anything with the router placement or anything on the laptop to cause this. Just started randomly Friday night and has not stopped. My work laptop still gets signal just fine downstairs. It's just my personal laptop that has the problem. Think the wireless card is going bad or would this be another issue? |

If your other computer work fine, then is sounds like the other one has the problem, not your WIFI router.

I think yes, cos with my laptop was the same problem, the only difference was that I have no connection at all, and after changing it all was nice, in any case it's better to ask on service website, believe there can give you answer for sure

I'd reboot EVERYTHING before I got too far along........if you have not already.

Get a wifi signal analyzer app and check the wifi signal where you're having problems. They are free if you have an Android phone, not sure for iOS.
It could be that a neighbor got a stronger wifi that's interfering with your signal downstairs. A wifi analyzer will tell you signal strength at your location and also which channels are being used by other wifi near there. Sometimes switching a channel helps. Also try a driver update for the wifi adapter in your laptop. Do a clean install of the driver. Sometimes removing the wifi network and re-adding it helps also. And yes, reboot everything first before doing anything else. |

It's a Dell. I have a new wireless card coming since it was $7 off egay. Coming USPS so it'll be here in 6 months...
Also ordered a USB wifi stick off Amazon that'll be here tomorrow so let's see if it works with that. If so, has to be the card that is going bad. If not, I am out of ideas. Driver updates etc was the first stuff I did, geez. |
