Nikon D40 or Canon rebel XS

Nikon D40 or Canon rebel XS (for a beginner)

came down to these two cameras.....
The D40 is a lil cheaper but is somewhat outdated
Canon XS is new model but same league

Any suggestions?

I'm a beginner and recently picked up a D90

the XS has a quite decent lens that comes with it. ONly issue is the view finder somewhat small. XSi is better in that respect but pricier..

Same here. I am a beginner and I also picked up the d90 from costco. I upgraded from a D80

+1 the d90 is easier to use than the d80 IMO. It also has a INFO button which the D80 Lacks.
