I hate when the salesman has to go for the test drive with you...
A buddy of mine was shopping around for a toy and we decided to go try an FRS...the salesman had to come with us, because of "what it is"...huh...you mean an ultra cheap 2 door car...we still couldn't believe it since our local BMW dealership would let me drive off with a 60-80k car no issues and toyota wouldn't let us take a 25k car for a spin...

Dealerships that just handed me the keys after taking a photo of my license are in minority (I believe this is slightly different in US where you're more likely to get the car for yourself). To be honest I'm surprised they'd ever let you drive the car on your own. Yes, I know they are insured, and say 90% of the drivers are responsible adults who won't abuse the demo car, but those few that might, might just ruin the demo car, and eventually cause trouble to the business. I'm fine with them not wanting to take this chance, in my view, nothing wrong with having a salesperson in a car with you? Most of them are fine with spirited driving and testing the car whichever way suits your own needs. And some of them are actually good at their job and might show you features/things about the car you didn't know about. |

I would demand new wheels. "Reconditioned" wheels are not worth the same on the market.

When I got my car back after getting it serviced, I found the dealer had put a license plate holder with the dealer's name on it.

But it is annoying to have to go through the whole sales process, get the price of the vehicle settled and then deal with the F+I folks.

There is a story that Jay Leno doesn't own a Ferrari because he went into a dealership dressed, as he normally dresses, in jeans, and the salespeople ignored him. Salespeople should be courteous no matter what your appearance.

SES triggered last Sat. at 5:30 PM in Dallas. No service depts. open in the metroplex. Last day of warranty coverage. 300 miles from home. Roadside has the gall to tell me it'll be, basically, tough shit if it dies on me on the way home. Drive home Sunday morning and immediately schedule appt. Monday morning for the following Tues. (soonest they can get me in with a loaner car, 'cause, you know, I have to be able to get back and forth to work if they keep a few days...which they will have to). Go to dealer after work that same day to explain what happened, told by the Service Manager "I'll see what I can do...". I was told the same exact thing when they broke my drivers side headlight bracket while failing, yet again, to fix my hood cable while it was under warranty. Yeah, bet this is going to make my next purchase decision really easy.

Went in for regular maintenance. Gave my check out ticket to one of the service guys to bring my car around after the complementary car wash. 45 mins later another guy brings the car around and was apologetic saying the car wash was busy. As he gives me the keys, I see the car is just as dirty as when I left it. The car was never washed! Wasn't having it anymore, complained to the service manager and he then gave me a free wash/wax and detail voucher ($180 value). Damage control successful but I have a feeling they were joy riding around town.

Salespeople tend to be lazy and not care about these issues. But it is a must and can lead to legal problems in the event of an accident. |

Salespeople's incomes are based on commission. That is also dependant on the dealerships "pay plan". I will assure all of you just because they sell a high end vehicle their payplan doesn't always reflect what they sell. Just because you work at a BMW dealership doesn't mean you will get paid any more than the salesperson that works at a Hyundai dealership. the prices of these cars are not directly related to the sales peoples actual income potential. |

I sell cars and make excellent money. My main goal is to provide excellent customer service. The numbers are secondary. Once you blow someone out of the water by listening to their needs and building value in the car they want most, the rest is easy.
People who come in with a friendly demeanor and a good attitude usually end up getting a great deal and enjoying their experience. I understand customer frustration with dealerships since I'm there for about 55 hours a week. We cannot please everyone who walks through the door, but we do business for the 90%. |

Whenever there is a new salesperson or SA the older ones point at me and say, that's Mr. K...he knows more about the cars than just about everyone that works here. It keeps them honest. Barely. |
