Lol.

The S85 is the only engine in history that has 385 lb-ft of torque and is said to be deficient in that area. (If you haven't figured it out yet, I LOVE this engine!!)

Cheers-mk

P.S. Not condoning the hooliganism in the clip. The engine sounds amazing!!

I've driven it. Needs more torque. Should be at least 90% of the hp. Doesn't have the kick in the pants I like. My e93 has more torque than this modified one.

You like that you're gonna love this. Engine is cheaper too by enough you get the car for free.

I understand what you are saying but the I personally prefer high revving deeply breathing engines. The power between 6k rpm and the redline on the S85 is intoxicating. I like cars that can pull hard well above 100 mph. Everything under this speed is a traction event. Torque is fine for initial acceleration but HP is king and high revving engines deliver HP in the most memorable way possible, imho.

Cheers-mk

P.S. And the only time the engine is low on torque is accelerating from a complete stop in 1st gear...any other time is a driver problem.

I kinda liked the Eisenmann one. V-10s can sound like UPS trucks, but that's more like F-1. I'll do a vid of my car this weekend, (yes, my real car, no youtube) which will depend on weather. You can judge for yourself. M6 is a nice, heavy, gentleman's tourer, but I think BMW's on the right track just TT'n a V-8.

Yes. The E-Race is insane. I can't do a vid as I am oot for a few days.

My M6 is about 100 lbs lighter than stock. 3770 is only a little heavier than an E9X M3 with gobs more hp. I had not trouble passing M3's at COTA in turns. Straights...it was like disappearing into hyperspace.

I'm looking forward to your video. Thx!

For me, no engine beats the sound of a V10 in the upper rev-ranges. The sound this S85 makes once it passes 7000rpm is stunning.

Once you've felt torque, you'll know there's no substitute. High rev., eventually. High TQ' right now! BTW, my car spins easily to 7k, and thats with a pushrod motor. Very small, and efficient. Since the 'charger, I don't want to rev past 6500, but it's a matter of keeping the tires connected to the road at anything below 100 or so.s Horrible tires for any kind of performance, Nitto Invos. I, too need a driver mod, after traction mod.

I've felt torque. I just think that HP, breathing in the upper register of the engine and throttle response is more important. Again, IMHO, the only time one should be in a flat spot is in first gear, upon taking off. Anything else is a driver problem.

Good call on the driver mod. It is the most important mod available and pays many dividends over time.

Proper mod list, IMHO, is:

Driver
Tires
Brakes
Suspension (Including more robust stress bars, front and rear.)
Engine (Power)

When I first placed PZero Corsa tires on my M6 I was both stunned and angry!!! Why didn't BMW put these tires on every M car?

They totally transformed the car in every dynamic dimension. That upgrade, combined with my Dinan suspension, Dinan CF rear upper stress bar, and the ACS billet aluminum front upper stress bar, made the car feel a foot shorter, rotate more efficiently, and strengthened the weak BMW front suspension. Understeer...ugh. Reduced but not gone. More mods on the way!

Cheers-mk
