I wish we saw more of these types of tributes.

Looks like it was taken from a boat near Marina Quay West.

Maybe, but you have that tree branch at the top of the screen, so I think it would be on land no?

I haven't been to the docks in a decade probably and forget the view, but I remember it was nice and thought it was sort of like that angle. Could be wrong though.

It's terrible that they're quitting, but I don't blame them one bit. I truly believe that the majority of LEOs are good people and want to protect and serve. However, how can someone be expected to risk their lives day in and day out when they're demonized for no good reason?

I actually envy those guys who choose to leave and/or have them ability to leave. I'm already too deep in the LEO game for that to really be an option for me. I am working hard to get off the line though.

Unfortunately, this has been a common thing among NOPD even prior to the officer shortage. It was a joke that if you got into an accident minimum wait time was 3-6 hours if they even showed up.

Now, the criminals know they don't have enough boots on the ground so they are running rampant. I didn't get to watch what he said so I'm just responding to that screenshot.

They are trying to recall the mayor as we speak but not sure how that will happen. We need a clean sweep. They need to take every single person out of city hall and start fresh. I don't envy anyone trying to battle this. LEO's have my utmost respect.

What kills me is all the criticism of people who go into the job, but none of the people criticizing ever go "I'll show you how it's done, I'll be a good cop."

Like...dude, if you think you can do better, show us how it's done. Or encourage a friend you think would do well. Balance the scales.

But no.

They don't want the smoke that comes with this profession. It's far easier to spout words than it is to commit to action.

My fiance and I were in New Orleans in 2019 for a wedding. We both commented multiple times how we didn't see many cops.

I guess they don't have the budget because the mayor is too busy flying first class.

Ain't that the truth?!?

In other news…..

…..It's pretty funny how the residents and political elites living on Martha's Vineyard were quick to remove those illegal immigrants from the island. The illegal immigrants didn't last 24 hours there, but we are expected to deal with them leaving their human excrement on the sidewalks in front of our homes indefinitely.

I'm thankful for cops like Sedan_Clan but everyone should be prepared and willing to to protect their homes.

This could have gone bad quick.

Agreed! Protect yourself, because there are less and less of us in the field who can. You're on your own most of the time.

I know you know this but I purchased my first home defense handgun during the riots of 2020. Best decision I ever made. I don't open carry but at least I know I can protect my family if *** hits the fan.

You may never, ever have to use it, but if a situation ever arises where you need to, you'll be elated that you made that decision back in 2020.

I bought my first handgun back during the Clinton era when the original assault weapon ban was being discussed. A simple revolver. Then I bought a Sig .45 which I put next to the bed with a loaded magazine thinking all I had to do was rack the slide and I was prepared. Point of this is - I never test fired it or learned how to hit anything. But I thought I was protected.

Few years later I moved to Arizona from California. And finally took the Sig to the range. Racked the slide - pointed it at a target - and CLICK.

Racked again and CLICK

I had a useless rock if I had needed a firearm. Turns out the springs were too tight and by loading a single round into the mag and shooting it worked. The with repetition eventually it worked with a full mag.

Consider this a public service announcement to people without experience with firearms. Even the best quality manufacturer can deliver a weapon that needs breaking in so you HAVE to learn to shoot it and make sure you have a weapon and ammo that work together or you aren't prepared.
