Munich trip

As a BMW owner are there any perks if you visit the BMW museum in Munich? Do they have any rental car programs for owners? I'm also a BMW CCA member.

Are there any recommendations for other things to do there? We are going the week before the Silverstone F1 race (we are going to that), we are going to the Porsche museum in Stuttgart as well. If you have any can't miss things to do let me know!

Obligatory visit to the Marienplatz. Dinner al fresco (schnitzel, what else?), or in the Ratskeller if inclement weather.

Train system is good (it's Germany!) within the city and to/from the airport.

If consistent with your faith, Mass in the Frauenkirche.

If schedule allows, day trip to the Alps (Oberstdorf or Garmisch Partenkirchen) for lunch and sighsteeing.

The BMW museum is fun, not sure of any perks but seeing their cars through the years is pretty cool. If you're into beer then Hofbrauhaus is a must...they have the best strawberry ice cream for some reason, and their pork knuckle is awesome. The city itself is very nice to walk around, especially old town.

Day trip to Rothenberg.

These a National Bavaria museum which had some cool military wares

Goto one the beer houses, like the Hofbräuhaus for lunch and of course a beer. I second Dachau, hard history but necessary. Also a day trip visit to Mad King Ludwig's Neuschwanstein Castle is worth while. And my favorite place is Berchtesgaden and Königssee.

Thank you all so much for your input! I’m not sure I can emotionally handle Dachau on a fun car-focused vacation with my kids. We do plan to take a night in the alps as well so thanks for that input!

Agreed. If the idea of visiting Dachau resonates with you in the least, I would go. We did Dachau in the morning, then drove the Autobahn to Austria and visited Eagle's Nest. It was in a Merc, not a Bimmer, but... it was still amazing to watch the speed limit sign change to "no speed limit" and just go.

Of all that I did do, I did not make it to the BMW museum - even though it was across the street from work for a couple of days. ??

If you're going to travel to Austria skip Dachau and visit Mauthausen

One thing I missed out on while there and really regret missing out on was the factory tour. Not sure if they still offer the M drive program but I was able to rent the I8 from BMW for 8 hours. Autobahn was an absolute blast 🤙

For Munich:
Visit to one of the lakes like Starnberger See or/and Chiemsee is also a nice todo for the kids. Rent a boat or just take a swim.

Visit of Schloss Neuschwanenstein. (Castle) in Füssen.

(Could be very crowded, with hours of waiting time to get in.)

For Stuttgart:
Visit to the Mercedes Museum. It's huge, plan 3-4 hours at least!

The old Towns of Ulm and Nuernberg have some nice spots as well (I don't know where you plan to go from Munich to Stuttgart.)
However they where bombed havely in WW2 and many of the old town buildings are gone. (but same in Munich and Stuttgart)

The museum was amazing and the Welt in general is just awesome. No perks being an owner, but we did rent a car and drove over to Austria.

I visited the museum in June 2022 right after they completed the M division (of the museum) and before they truly announced it. I thought it was one of the better car museums in the area. Saw many prototype builds and one-off cars that rarely see the light of day.

Across the street is the Olympic park, celebrating 50 years. There were many events going on at the park too.
