I haven't really been following the story until a few days ago. Since the verdict came out yesterday, all I have been seeing and hearing about are protests, oftentimes violent.

Even in cities like Oakland here in the Bay Area, people are looting and breaking and entering businesses. It is so stupid in my opinion. I mean, I get that people are angry. But really? This happened in a different state. Why do people feel the need to start trashing stuff at home?

I just saw on TV people breaking into a Subway, walking on highways, and light bonfires in the middle of streets. I don't mean to sound ignorant but why are black people always portrayed so badly by the media? I don't see any other races acting violently. I feel like there is a historical hatred between blacks and whites (perhaps due to slavery?).

I saw an episode of Band of Brothers today. The episode showed how badly the Jews were being treated in concentration camps. What happened to them was a lot worse than slavery but I don't think the Jewish people were ever violent. So what the heck is going on here?

Sorry for the vent. It just makes me wonder every time I see protests and looting going on whenever an event involving a black person is involved.

In all seriousness, it's about economic disenfranchisement, broken public school system, and broken homes.

Income disparities are also higher in "southern" states between whites and minorities. Missouri is in the south, they were a slave and sharecropper state.

For one, it's education. Look at these areas that are heavily populated by blacks. Majority of these people are uneducated and really don't have any morals. Figure a lot of them complain about slavery in the past, but everyone builds their own future whether they want to accept it or not, and poverty stricken areas choose not to.

Look at the Jewish community. Very well educated and have morals that date back for centuries. This isn't a racist comment, but look back on black history and where their actual roots come from, Africa, an uneducated and poverty stricken country where a lot of these tribes have their own means of what is right and how the world works.

There is always going to be some heat with the white verse black communities, I personally don't understand it because I have more black friends than I do white friends. It really is sad to see how these areas represent their own people, and yet they wonder many other races see them as inferior or ignorant. Shit like that is just unacceptable, and it sucks that it can have that kind of affect on places nowhere near the damage zone.

Ahhh, but he was a "good boy" and "didn't deserve to die". His attitude and lack of respect for authority should have simply been overlooked by the cop...you know...

I get tired of hearing about this stuff too...white kids have issues too (and get killed for it, albeit it I'm sure not at the same rate / number), but I don't see a bunch of whites going to burn down the town they live in because some cracker punk decided to test an officer.

Just can't agree more with this. The worst part, by far, is that you can't even confront these "protesters", apologists, and sympathizers with facts. They just run right over anyone who does with the word "injustice" or put up a pathetic excuse of a straw man argument in refute...or both. Pathetic.
