Any day traders/investors in here?
I was short on ABK today when they halted trading. The uncertainty was killing me.!!! The fact that I had to pee and couldnt take that chance didnt help. Sat here for 2 hours staring at no volume.
Luckily it worked out for me(2+ points), but it could have been disasterous. |

I was considering a long on apple this week, maybe a put to hedge.
I went long on ABK today planning to hold til Monday but sold at close just before the $2 spike. |

I hate to say, but gold still has some traction. Whether the dire economic situation is real or imagined (I think more imagined than real at this moment) the uncertainty is there, ergo, precious metals are safe harbors.
Another good hedge (for a while) are defense stocks. You may not hit a home run, but you won't take it in the shorts, either. p.s. glad you've got the brass to day-trade in this market...dang. |

Been there, done that. When I had my website "SaavyCharts" I did a bunch of daytrading. (several million dollars a day) Since then, I've been more of a swing trader (6 weeks to 6 months) and continue to post my stock market technical analysis on various boards.

For what it's worth, the smartest person I know personally (and possibly the wealthiest) is buying gold up to $2,000 per ounce. He started buying at ~$500 per and I thought he was nuts...
Per bona fides, he is the man who convinced his company to purchase Network Solutions (then the domain name monopoly) for $10M in the '90's. Later the company sold it for billions. Enough said? |

Hi,
I was always interested in investing in the foreign exchange market, commodities, stocks, etc. But whenever I started delving into it, I lacked the motivation to stay in the game. (I know some basics of investing) May I ask, how did you guys start investing, what did you read to learn, etc? Thanks!!! |

I love investing, I've been doing it for almost 8 years. I was given a good opportunity to learn from a family friend (stock broker).
I'm on a short term hiatus after getting kicked in the pants with a few options on Google.

Ya I got kicked in the pants this week pretty hard. Lost all of my cushion back down to my own money again.
Sucks because I was hoping to have enough locked up to pay for the 135, oh well its still 2 months out I have time to make it back again. |

If my wave count is correct, it projects up to 1460 (B) by summer then down (C) into the fall. I can also make a case for a top in the 1415 or 1500 areas using different Fibonacci ratios and technical analysis techniques.
