Yeah, why put so much down on a lease car? It lowers monthly payment, but really, money wise it is not going to help you in the long run.

All I got was the 3m protection,tinted windows,rubber mats.
I'm putting at least 40k down and payments will be around $170 for 4 years and a ballon at the end. I don't keep cars too long so the option works for me

any amount above 3K down on a lease is the very best way to save. it lowers the total amount of intrest that you pay and, in most cases, if you use the higher safety deposit option you can lower your interest rate by a large margin.

why give them more money that you have to? pay up front, loose MUCH less overall.

when i buy outright with financing (my motorcycle) i put 50% cash and finance the rest. when i lease (my car) i pay about 50% of the total leased amount up front to save on intrerests.

Waldorf,

That's a good point. I put down a good amount my self.

Not sure if I had mentioned it before or not but I was able to get 4.3% off the price. I can't mention the place or the name so if you need the info PM me.

This is the truth.... as long as the interest rate is still high on these cars it saves lots of money paying up front.

I also had an interest rate of 6.0% instead of 6.9%...over the course of the 36 month lease saved me big time as well.
Brian Jessel is a great dealership and they do high sales volume...but i got the better deal at the bmw store on Burrard!
cheers,

What happens when you lease a car and get into an accident? I never leased a car before so I don't know.

Actually, no. This is one of those things that people just say because they've heard it before from someone else.

In the event of a total loss the insurance company goes by fair market value of the car vs. lease balance owing either way.

Who here is getting a BMW e93 328i convertible in Vancouver, B.C.
If you are planning on buying one, maybe we can shop together and get a better deal from one of the dealers (e.g. Parkshore etc...)

PM me w/ your name and details b/c I'm planning on shopping around once the e93's are released in Canada, which should be sometime next week!

Wow, $2000 off, that's pretty good! I also see that you're in Vancouver.
May I ask where and who you purchased your car from? Parkshore? Brian Jessel? Thanks in advance, and you can PM me the details if you aren't comfortable about posting it on the forum
