rust inhibitor

Just wondering if the rust inhibitor is necessary. The cost is 2449.00 dollars. Was I supposed to be asked or is that mandatory. Will only be driving 8months out of the year. No winter driving. Can I decline it? Is that put on by the dealer or comes from the factory? Looking at my lease copy and just noticed all the extra costs that wasn't fully explained to me. Need some help in understanding lease. Is it wise to put a large downpayment or what would be the minimum requirement.

Just say no. Dealer trying to make extra profit. Nothing to do with BMW.

Ummm.... no it is not necessary and for $2450 it's a complete rip-off (lease or buy). Just take care of the car. There is a bodywork warranty. FWIW, I declined all of the dealer cosmetic extras as they all have a ridiculous mark-up. All are good to have but not at the prices charged.

Dealer left me a message saying they do not offer the rust inhibitor, but on the lease agreement I see a charge (2449.00) You think its from the factory and am I stuck paying for it. Freight is already 1895.00 does that sound about right.
My status is (accept for production) can I still renegotiate or am I stuck with the costs.

rust inhibitor is sth that the detail shop spray in between your doors and prevent it from rusting. They usually spray the chemical into your door panels from the drain holes that are already there (no drilling) It is sth within the range of a "Protection Package" from a dealership. The dealership dun realli make you buy them, but the Business Office does (the guy that you deal with for you purchase agreement). Guess what, I work in the business office but the cost of these kinds of pro-packs.... not to mention it.. but of coz BMW is always more expensive.. If you realli wanna apply these kinds of protections, PM me...

I think BMW's warranty on rust is 12 years. Even my dealer said that getting this wasn't worth it.
