Diet soda contains chemicals found in rust remover
Don't drink soda folks. Especially, the diet kind. It's just poison for your body. Thank God I never got hooked on it.

I only drink water, beer, wine and alcohol (normally straight). It's what I have to do to stay "healthy".
I don't like soft drinks enough to deal with the negatives (maybe 10 a year), from the empty calories to the ingredients that seem suspect at best. When I look at the calories in a Coke I would rather get them from chocolate or something else I really like. On the skeptical side I have no idea what "some of the same chemicals as X" really means. Both could have the same completely safe chemical in them.

Haven't you ever heard that Coke, not diet, also removes rust? As for the artificial sweetener part, recently watched a show (and this article briefly mentioned it) that said researchers think that the sweetener doesn't register with the brain as satisfying and therefore still craves the sweet fix. As for dangerous, doh, I never touch that stuff. Took researchers how long to finally admit that margarine is bad for you. Give me all the fat and sugar that occurs naturally. |

I really think people should eat as they like in responsible portions. American portions are way too big and that's why people are supersized too. Lack of exercise because everyone is driving around and not walking also contributes to it.

Y'all should try my wife's salsa when she gets mad at me. The boys refer to it as battleship cleaner . . . Man, I need to make her mad soon

This "X uses the same ingredients used in dangerous substance Y" seems like a very misleading and stupid way to compare things. It's yellow journalism and scare tactics at its finest. I'm sure a tennis racket is made of chemicals that are used to make dangerous $hit, should I not touch a tennis racket then?
Anyhow, with that being said, I'm in no way a proponent of soft drinks. I do enjoy them time to time; but I feel it's best not to bring them into the home, that way the temptation isn't there. Juices aren't healthy either, they are chop full of sugar. Might as well drink a can of coke instead of that "healthy" Odwalla smoothie. Everything is fine in moderation, just don't make consumption of sugar drinks and processed foods part of your regular diet. |

My mom said "drink beer instead of pop". Works for me (male in late 20s).
Work fridge is stacked with soda but I typically drink sparkling water and that does the trick. |
