The Belgian journalist who travels around the world with the F1 circus to present the F1 qualies, Sprint and F1 races (Gaëtan Vigneron) regularly refers to his 'carnet': it's his notebook where he notes all sorts of info and gossip he gathers in the paddock during F1 weekends + by watching all the action. He always keeps track of the tire sets of each driver: number of sets, which tires, used/new. Quite peculiar that, unlike journalists like Vigneron, a top team like Ferrari didn't realize (or did realize but gambled) that Leclerc had ran out of mediums when he needed those the most: during the second half of the race, instead of during free practice.

Today I heard from the leader of the Orange army that Ferrari was testing in the free practices new floors and it had to be done with mediums .

But IMHO . It doesn't matter anymore , Charlies WDC was/is already lost anyway.

Perez is fine, Racefans data graphs show him running at or faster than the top 5 95% of the race. Not sure what happened in those 5% laps.

He's in a team that's all-in on max, but he gets paid well, he has a comfortable life. He's not there to win the WDC but help RBR.

Did Marko forget that without Perez's help in Abu Dhabi, RBR would be second and would not have its current legendary status, they'd be just another loser to Merc.

RBR own him everything they have.

He could have, the softs operate significantly better in wet weather than the mediums, he could have gained 2 seconds on max per lap, I think he was 8 seconds behind so he really needed a solid 4-6 to catch and a total of 10 laps challenge or pass, it was very possible. Not to mention Max’s tires were gone by lap 70.

It’s not a “who’s the better driver” question, it’s the tire physics. Same way Charles was useless out there on hards compared to mediums.
