PS5 GT7 is now in VR - anyone tried it?
i've not touched any driving sim since October 22 but this is tempting ...
anyone tried it? any risk of it selling out like the console if i don't buy it? |

I've been playing it and while it's good I don't think it's great. Reprojection is used to being the gameplay to 120hz and it causes ghosting. Image is soft and grainy even after dialing in to that ridiculously small "sweet spot". The feel of immersion is good but FOV is still too narrow- tracks with elevation changes are great though and can make my stomach flip.
One strange thing is they don't let you adjust your driving position in the car. Give us some 'seat controls' so we sit in the car as we would in real life. You can trick the camera position by changing your positioning before a race but it shouldn't come down to that. Just don't go into it thinking it's going to look like the reviews you may have seen online which 90% were captured on a screen and not through the actual lenses. try this
- for anyone wondering how to adjust the in game wheel to be higher or lower, or away from you (the driver), or closer to you, simply lower your head (while you have the psvr2 headset on) and keep pressed the option button if you want the wheel to be higher, raise the head+hold the option button if you want the wheel to be lower. Lean/move your body toward the wheel and keep pressed the option button if you want the in game wheel to be further from you, move away from the wheel+hold on the option button if you want the ingame wheel to be closer to you. So, play around a few times until you get the desired position. |

Currently I'm just building up my tolerance for it to race longer without getting too nauseous.

Simply Amazing!
I just saw this thread and feel compelled to chime in. I had the VR2 since launch day, but only had a chance to try GT7 this weekend. I am blown away. Thinking back to the days of running Papyrus IndyCar simulator on my 386sx PC, this is mind altering.
I had selected the Ferrari Vision last time I played, so it popped me in the cockpit of this grounded spaceship. I was instantly hooked. The amazing depth of field, the ability to look through corners, your hands naturally follow where you are looking while driving. It had elevated the experience so much for me I went back and "golded" all the license challenges. Then I needed a new environment, so I got a used PlaySeat Challenge last night and bolted up the old G29. Another major step. Before I knew it it was 11P and time for some sleep. I was just about to shut down, when I wandered over to the manufacturer pavilion and looked at the BMW section. "oh cool! they have an M3 e92!" I did the "VR showroom" and changed to seated in the car. just WOW! I have an E90 335, and it was like I was sitting in my car! Even the Nav screen and controls are there. I am just floored by this new world I can enter and leave at will, thank you Sony! Worth every penny, IMHO. |

the blur is reduced when looking slightly forward & up but its at an unnatural head angle. there is still blur everywhere else. I have used the tips in the video link posted in this thread and it's probably one of the better sources of info. I personally cannot see the benefits of this headset vrs using a 2D monitor (for GT7).
I can deal with the burr but not the motion sickness lol. The still in-car VR themes are REALLY good. As for the driving experience maybe a heavy firmware update will fix the issue for me. if you don't get motion sickness from it then id say its worth it even with the blur when racing because you can better manage going from apex to apex especially since your peripheral vision is maximized. when going through the drop zone in Breidscheid all the way up thru Ex-Mühle on the Ring it feels like a rollercoaster and that can never be duplicated in 2D. |

dumb question - can you have both the VR and TV producing graphics? would be great so others can watch what's going on |

I just picked up the VR2 headset and was on the fence for a few weeks.
Totally worth it. I have it paired with the fanatec DD 8nm kit and standard CSL pedals, all mounted to the playseat trophy. This is a great setup and the feeling you get driving is totally immersive. Braking zones are more easily judged, you can avoid bumping into cars, it's completely worth it over controller. Get it, you won't have regrets after the fact. |

I cannot stress this part enough. I too was amazed no reviews really mentioned the true image quality. It is nowehere near as sharp as it is on your TV, but this is still really cool to drive with nonetheless. I find myself judging depending on teh racing what mode I want to use, VR or TV. It's super fun though. |

The immersiveness is amazing. The lighting in the cockpit is beautiful, especially for early morning sunlight. The detail and depth to the cars right ahead of you is the best part of it.
Image quality and focus fall apart beyond two or three car lengths. End of long straights look like they're original PlayStation quality games. The lack of focus for text/writing on cockpit items such as buttons is an annoyance. Is it worth nearly $600? I don't think so and it's not like there are plenty of other VR games to play. I'm debating whether to keep it still.

I think i'll hold onto mine. I mean there will be other games like F1 23 coming out to hopefully support VR. And future GT games, i play it mostly when i feel the need for full immersion. Other times i play on my tv.

what can i say, immersion is 100%. you are literally there in the car at the circuit. did it make me faster on GT7? nope lol, barely get close to the time i set using the controller and the TV! didn't get motion sickness but my nose bridge hurts as i shoved the set over my headphones .... |
