Omega Seamaster Professional
I am looking into picking up either a used or new (if it's a good price) Omega Seamaster. Can you guys offer any tips or advice as to how much I can expect to pay for a new or used Seamaster?
I don't know whether Co-Axial is better or not. I'm not looking for a GMT or Chrono- just the old James Bond style one. Thanks much!! |

Check out watchrecon.com
This site brings in many forums and you can search by the exact watch you're interested in. Make sure they are a trusted seller if you're buying used. There are still creeps out there who will try to rip you off. Good-luck!

I found one I liked and was able to make a fair deal on it. This is my first Omega/automatic watch ever. I looked into one 2220.80 5 or 6 years ago but didn't go through with it. I looked again after that and found that that the prices have been raised (by 15-20%). I was looking for the original Bond watch though and had my mind set on the 2531.80. I'm so happy/excited right now!
Thank you for everyone's help! PS- the pix below are from the seller's thread. The watch will be here next week. |

I didn't posted but followed your thread
Omega is a very good brand, it's a very special watch! I hope that with your entry into the watch world, you also get a chance to find true treasures as Sinn, Fortis, Breitling and Panerai. Wonderful pieces of art that's how I call them. One thing for sure though, one day and that's a must, that's what we all watch-enthusiast's allready have been through, you will benefit yourself with a nice Rolex Submariner. Don't miss the Rolex Submariner!!!! |

i dont... not that hard to wind it when i use mine. I rotate a couple as dailys and then have a few that get special use. IMO just get a nice box for storage.

When I had an automatic I used a winder, some said constant pulling out the stem introduced dust - but others say BS, I just like the conscience |

That particular model has been discontinued, so there's no way to compare it against new watch pricing unless you can find a grey market seller who still has one available. You can get some sense of how they were prices some years back here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/253...ce-441272.html . There are likely other threads/posts that discuss/mention more current pricing on WUS or other forums. All the best.

You're welcome. Enjoy your SMP when it arrives. I find Omega watches excellent in so many ways for daily wear use. A Constellation has been my daily wearer for over 20 years. My Seamaster is one having the 1120 inside. I am very satisfied with it. Someday, I'll grab an Omega of some sort just to have a co-axial escapement movement, but right now, doing so isn't a priority. I've held off buying one for two reasons:

I have this one. It's just over a year old. MSRP was $6,400 and I paid over $5,000. I'll sell it to you for $3,600
