All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut

https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/th...allpapers.418/

NEW YORK – Nissan revealed the all-new 2023 Z sports car in a global broadcast from Brooklyn’s Duggal Greenhouse, about five miles from where the original 1970 Datsun 240Z made its world debut in October 1969.

"When we introduced the Z in 1969, the Z was a revolution. Since then, for more than 50 years, Nissan has brought style, speed, reliability and so much more to millions of enthusiasts around the world,” said Ashwani Gupta, representative executive officer and chief operating officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

While the six previous generations of Nissan’s iconic sports car all offered numeric designations, the long-awaited redesign will be known in the United States simply by just one letter – Z.

The 2023 Z offers a sleek, attractive exterior with a silhouette that shows respect for the original model – with a long hood and low rear stance. Inside, the driver-centric cockpit includes a 12.3-inch customizable racing-inspired meter display, available leather-appointed sports seats and 8-speaker Bose® audio system.

All 2023 Nissan Z models are equipped with a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and choice of 6-speed manual transmission with motorsports-inspired EXEDY® high-performance clutch, or a new 9-speed automatic transmission with aluminum paddle shifters.

"The Z has always been an accessible sports car – always placed at the intersection of aspiration and attainability – of dreams and reality. This latest iteration is now ready to thrill Z enthusiasts, and create a whole new generation of Z fans as well, when it comes to market here in the U.S. early next year,” said Gupta.

The 2023 Z is offered in Sport and Performance grade levels and a special "Proto Spec” edition, which is limited to 240 units.

Looks like they improved the exterior compared to the prototype: the rear haunches appear more prominent and all the details are better fleshed out. The interior is spartan, but not too cheap-looking, which is acceptable in a sports car like this. Overall I like it.

Looks great, love that more manufacturers are using retro designs for inspiration. Would get this over the Supra even with the old platform.

I had my 350Z for a solid 7 years miss that car! This is looking good for Nissan. Yes it’s pretty much using the same platform and interior but the combo of 400hp V6TT + 6MT is absolutely amazing.

Looks great! The rear wheel gap is crazy though.

Oh, I love this thing. Never driven a 370Z so I hold no grudges re recycling an older car.

Love the rear, not crazy about the front. Nonetheless it's a sports car with a manual transmission which is a complete win.

This is going to be a hot sector when all the rivals are out. So it's the Z, TT RS, M240i, Supra, & Cayman. Missing anyone?

I don't know what it is about that rear but it looks like a Z in the front but the back looks like an X4 or X6 Crossover SUV. Which throws me off.

It's really not terrible, the back end is sort of dope.

Day 1 it needs a mega drop and you're on your way. This 4x4 look on sporty cars just has to die.

6MT alone makes it automatically better than the Supra in my eyes.

An M2C may still be more fun IMO but 15-20k above this price range

Regarding design, I love it. But the front could definitely be better. Maybe a drop and darker color would help.

I dig it. From the press info the car seems to offer more driver-centric features such as programmable shift light (admittedly gimmicky), auto rev match as an on/off button, one drive setting, A DEDICATED WATER TEMP GAUGE. The list goes on.

Wouldn't trade in my M2 but if I had to nit pick it would be at those types of things.

Even without a tune this thing would probably be hunting M2s.

Not a bad effort but not as nice as my old blue, Datsun 260Z (my 2nd car back in high school in the 80s).

It's not terrible, but...

- it's a bit chunkier than I prefer
- the grill is regrettable, and out of place, as is the rear tail-light section
- it's a bit thick in front of, and behind the front wheel (compared to the rear)
- that front caliper position gives me the willies
- I wanted more 240Z and less 300Z

I do applaud Nissan for...

- making the MT available
- sticking closely to their concept
- that beautiful sloping roof
- the stellar hood lines
- the center analog gauges

Favorite pic, making it look more svelte.
