What's the deal with Tim Tebow?
So I've always wondered but never cared enough to look into it, until now. What's the deal with Tim Tebow? Why is it that many teams have traded for him or drafted him so highly and ended up not utilizing him. For example, the Jets traded for him and he ended up being a bench warmer (even after the horrible season that Sanchez had). I thought that at some point they would put Tebow in and give him a shot.
Can someone shed some light on this? |

He is simply not a very good Quarterback. I think he has other attributes, among those the fact that I think him to be a natural born leader, but he really can't throw the ball. Now that said, I think it was a mistake not to take Sanchez out and give him a shot. The more you practice the better you get, they didn't even give him a chance.
He's a good kid and has value on the field, but maybe not a QB. Just my opinion

He's big, strong, and fast. He'd make a perfect fullback but he has it stuck in his head that he's a QB...which he shouldn't be.

needs to play fullback with the option to throw the ball in trick plays.

I'm not a tebow fan, but he should have gotten some time as QB last year....just the coach was against the idea. Like him or not, the last game he won was a playoff game.
Now the option is one thing, but he cannot be a full time runner. |

The kid gets such a bad rep, won to national championships in college. Did a lot for a broncos team, he fucked up going to the jets when he should of gone to jaguars

Well there were teams that wanted to trade for him. Unfortunately the Jets got him and ended up not utilizing him at all. I did not understand why Rex didn't try a different route when Sanchez wasn't doing all that well.

This has to be the most embarrassing play for Sanchez last year. I mean... C'mon man! I am sure Tebow wouldn't of slammed into his team mates ass like that. WTF

no, tebow would have run right through 65. they had him up to about 250+. he was huge. he certainly would not have crumpled like a cream puff and lost the ball.

Tebow has no business being a quarterback but can excel (as others have said) as a fullback and gimmick plays. He really did get jerked around by the Jets last year and he's continuing to get jerked around as they refuse to release him until after the draft.
Great athlete, great kid, terrible QB, fuck Jets. |

Tebow will be fine. He'll get a show on the Trinity Broadcast Network, Daystar, or the GOD channel.

I still feel bad for the guy. His popularity turned around and bit him in the ass. It doesn't help that no one was willing to give him a chance either. I mean what was the Jets thinking trading for him if they weren't going to use him?

I live in Colorado, south of Denver. So many people here love Tebow because of consistent attitude. And so many people hate him because of his inconsistent play. Every game was a yo-yo, one minute you are cheering a laser beam pass with eyes on it into double coverage and the next you are scratching your head wondering how he missed a wide open back out of the backfield. ugh!

Tebow was definitely hurt by his popularity and unfortunately may never recover from it. The day he was drafted ESPN became the Tim Tebow Network. Every story was about Tim Tebow and NFL fans and commentators started hating him to the point of frothing at the mouth, despite being one of the most humble athletes in professional sports. Merril Hoge literally tweeted every incomplete pass he threw as proof Tebow does not belong in the NFL.
It's undeserved. Even in this thread you read things like "Tebow has no business being a QB" or he's a "terrible QB." Really? For a guy who is such an awful quarterback and has yet to play a full season he was pretty entertaining to watch in Denver where he WON A F*&^CKING PLAYOFF GAME IN PITTSBURG! Let it sink in: a quarterback who is still basically a rookie in terms of games played has already won a playoff game in one of the hardest stadiums for visiting teams to compete in. Say what you will but the guy deserves a chance. Amazingly, many in Jacksonville still don't want him. I know if my team went 2-14 last year I'd have no problem giving him 16 games to prove himself.
