Looking at buying an M4. Is this a good one?
I’m looking to purchase a 2018 M4 with a manual transmission for $32,000. It’s a one owner vehicle with maintenance records and has 110,000 miles on it. This will just be a weekend car for my wife so she’ll average 5,000 miles a year on it. What’s the reliability like with 110k miles? Would you recommend getting one with this many miles?

This platform is generally solid. Have some money set aside especially if you don’t plan on doing your own maintenance.
Common repairs are valve cover leaks/PCV issues, OFHG leaks and coolant leaks of the intercooler into the intake. Even simple maintenance such as spark plugs and air filters get pricey because of the extra labor involved in removing suspension bracing. |

Sounds reasonably priced for the year and mileage. You didn’t state it so I assume it’s a non-comp model?
What’s the condition of the exterior paint, leather seats and steering wheel (matte or shiny), brakes, and tires? Do you plan on getting a PPI done if you decide to buy it? The f8x chassis and s55 engine have been solid and reliable. Best DD of any generation of M3/M4. The post above hits on the major items to lookout for - valve cover leaks, PCV failure and TMIC leaking. Some are concerned about SCH but I’ve had my f82 for eight years, eight years of tracking and four with a gts-level ecu tune, and I never think about a SCH. If everything looks good for a 110k mile car and it has a clean PPI then it sounds like a good buy. |

Thank you for the replies so far. Exterior and interior are in very good shape. Brakes are 80% and tires are Michelin’s at 75%. All bone stock and no mods except tint. Is it worth doing a PPI?

My valve cover started leaking near that mileage. A pricey repair but I had no other major issues at 120k. I was very good about maintenance.

My 2015 had every issue listed above except coolant leaks. Although I'm not sure if gaskets are as much function of miles as they are age. Old rubber doesn't seal well. Regardless, sounds like a fair deal to me OP. But there will be repairs. And they will be $2-3k every time.
