That snow shouldn't blue. You need to pull down the B on the RGB curve.

In the AV booth, I get to shoot the band and orchestra. I may continue to do so after my son graduates this year, only to perfect technique.

Ah, I was wondering if you'd been there, TL. Lots of photo ops and just as many visual nightmares.

anyone ever shoot ND filters with strobes? just got a tip from a pro to try it out to maximize low aperture in higher lit conditions of strobes, never thought of it (though it makes perfect sense when you know the application of ND filters).

i do it allllll the time. adds a great touch to a lot of shots. only thing you have to consider is that lenses perform best in the middle of their aperture range.

true but what good is an f/1.4 if you can't use it.

also used my strobes, opened up outter soft box cloth but left inner diffuser on... its like a massive beauty dish, hard edges and a nice diffused center.

agreed. but i know a guy who shoots at f/2 or larger every time he shoots studio style...and that just seems dumb to me.

not necessary in a studio for 99.9% of shots but depends on if the guy wants just the tip of the subjects nose in focus or their entire head.

you can definitely notice a difference between a shot at f/8 and f/1.4 at 50mm or 85mm in a studio setting.

if a photograph relies on sharpness to be a difference, then it wasn't going anywhere anyway.

you're right, and i suppose a photographer should rely on a single 'different' technique rather than actual substantive skill to make his shots stand out from the rest, too.
