myBmw app
Was in the dealership in the uk, and they tempted drivers to connect their cars to the myBmw app.
Wondering what sort of data they are collecting Will we loose out in the long run Thanks |

As someone sensitive to data collection you should be skilled at reading terms/agreement, data collection and usage disclosures, and the privacy policy. Then you can make your own, informed decision.

I have used it for years. I like the seeing the locked status of the car and the physical location.

If you consider it as just a view into the data BMW already collects on your car rather than something that exposes the data to the outside world, I don’t think there’s much reason to avoid the app.

I use it all the time and love it. In addition to what was already mentioned above — you can use the app to take an arial photo of the car and f/r/l/r views of its surroundings, which can be very useful when using public parking etc.
I'm not sure what data you're afraid of sharing, but I don't think there is any reason to worry. And with the new iOS and macOS getting interactive widgets — this app will be even better! |

When my F22 was stolen, I was able to use the app to repeatedly honk the horn, flash the lights, lock/unlock the doors which likely caused the thief to just park it and run. It was recovered by local police less than 12 hours after it was stolen.

You can also see the tire pressures with the app.
