F1: Miami Grand Prix

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/m...eting/4589223/

Looks like the new location for the race is picking up a lot of opposition as well. The Liberal lunatics down there are leading the opposition based on this quote:

“They can produce all kinds of phony statements about how they can mitigate the deadly effects, but we can never erase deadly health damage, and possibly permanent hearing loss, especially to children. Even the county’s own study verifies the deadly effects.

Have to make sure they throw in the children going deaf for good measure. Anyone on here been to a race and suffered from these "deadly effects"? It just blows my mind that people are this crazy. The proposed track layout is around an NFL stadium that has events every other weekend during the fall creating all kinds of noise and pollution.... I vote for the race to be held at Watkins Glenn!!

Thoughts?

I think they are having to come up with these arguments because "We dont want a race here" isnt a good enough reason........for some reason.

As for why F1 is pushing so hard to get a race in Miami, this article is great read: https://www.racefans.net/2019/10/17/...so-much-to-f1/

In essence:

Quote:
(...) RSE Ventures, an investment firm controlled by Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, (...) had submitted a bid (to purchase F1 from CVC) in conjunction with a Qatari sovereign wealth fund-backed consortium and an unnamed private equity firm. The net effect is that RSE’s interest upped the ante, in effect causing the price to spiral much to Liberty’s dismay.

The obvious solution was for Liberty to persuade RSE to drop its interest in F1, with the payoff believed to be the hosting rights to a Miami Grand Prix on a profit-sharing basis (with Liberty). Once the profit-share deal entered the public arena, existing promoters demanded similar treatment.

The problem in Miami is the corrupt politicians. The same is happening to David Beckham and his new soccer stadium. You see in Miami if the politicos can't wet their beaks they don't want anyone else to either.
That is why in Miami every single interstate road has a toll every 5 miles and lexus lanes that cause huge traffic jams.

the funny part is that people keep putting these corrupt bozos in office... that is why I moved to Broward to get away from these douche bags...

"bedroom" community. The stadium is located right off an interstate highway and regularly holds sporting events and concerts. So the idea that a car race would somehow add noise to what is usually a quiet community is comical.

I really hope this happens as I would LOVE to attend an F1 race in Miami. While the newly proposed location doesnt have the scenic advantage of the originally proposed location near Biscayne Bay, I actually think it would make for a more enjoyable fan experience as the travel logistics are more efficient and the grandstands can easily be placed for better fan viewing.

Somebody sell her on the idea that the cars aren't loud anymore, then bring a one off "Heritage V10" race to Miami.

Watkins Glen would be my top choice but it would need a lot of modification to pass F1 safety regs.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.. Here's some more comedy gold..

"Apparently, they had all been instructed to wear orange and the impact of that was striking – no wonder Max Verstappen gets such a boost from his army of supporters! One of the few non-orange-clad supporters was a gentleman wearing a homemade ‘TRUMP SUCKS’ shirt, who bizarrely claimed F1 had “killed many with its clouds of smoke” and that “kids are gonna breathe in that stuff thinking it’s good”

“There are six schools located within a mile of the stadium. One of them is across the street! Friday is a school day. How can our kids learn when you have noise levels."

“Formula 1 tires: In that video you saw the smoke coming of the tires? It’s toxic"

"These tires are soft and degradable, it disintegrates while it is racing, and those things go out into the community. That’s what we’re talking about here, putting on this event in a bedroom community within a mile of six schools."

Source: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/m...eting/4589604/

These people are literally too stupid to argue with. I wish F1 representatives ripped them apart, but it seems from this article, they weren't expecting to have any opposition and were under prepared for this delusional protesting.

Considering I know people in the industry down here, there's no need to call F1.

Well someone needs to be notified right? I mean if its already been decided that the race wont happen then you could save a lot of people a great deal of time and effort by letting them know its a pointless endeavor.

It's not my job to notify anyone. And my source was involved in the original Miami F1 plans a few years ago.

Perhaps in the original plan the right people weren't lining their pockets. As long as everyone can get their beaks wet we will get a race.

From my own personal experience trying to obtain motorsports venues, I'll just say that NIMBYs would rather live next to a crack house than a race track.....

We can only hope. The new track being built is going to be nice when finished very soon.
