Been thinking about this. Perhaps the best engine for a DTC is an electric motor.

I don't know, but I do know that some manuals suck. Many years ago I bought a G37 manual... having never driven the manual, but driven the automatic version many times and owned an EX35. Anyways.... I fucking HATED it! That's all I remember about that car. I actually got it at Carmax and returned it within the 7 days they give you. I think it was more the engine than the transmission itself... not sure it's been a while but I recall it being very sluggish to get the revs up.

More recently I also drove a manual Boxster 718 and the auto and honestly... I think the auto was better.

Pretty much mandatory to get in there and swap out bushings and shift lever heights to make the shifter "normal" on some cars, BMW included. My 2 series somehow got worse from my E90, it was one of the first mods.
