Let's be real, most of the population cannot afford to just pay cash for new cars, homes etc. 1% of the population has most of the money.

Truth. For better or worse, without most in this country carrying loads of debt, capitalism doesn't work. It's what makes the economy go round.

I worked hard and lived a bit frugally for the first 20 years of my working life and am now very fortunate enough to not have to participate in getting loans for anything. I've never been a fan of having a note hanging over my head. If I can't buy it with cash, then to me, I can't afford it. I know most don't think that way and that's fine.

Well said. But of course debt is not wealth.

Another perspective on debt not being wealth:

But but social media influencers say otherwise

Thoughts on 718 GTS 2.5 vs 4.0? The difference is $25-30K.

There really aren’t as many 997s in general which is why buying a newer 991 for nearly the same money makes sense too. I wouldn’t care about the PCM version if I got a 997.1, I’d plan to install the Porsche classic radio after purchase.

997 and 991 are VERY different cars though. I had a screaming deal on a gorgeous 991 lined up, drove it, just a fantastic car but my heart wasn't in it. It just looked too big and sort of generic. It rides so much better than the 997 on shitty roads though, no contest.

What's more important to you, a thick torque band and better daily driveability or engine sound and winding a motor out and chasing the redline?

I’d like the engine sound, but did drive a GTS 2.5 at PEC LA in 2019 and thought it sounded great in the cabin. Outside a different story but how often do we rev the engine outside of the car? I got back and forth on this. Not worth the huge premium of $25-30K, but if it was $10-15K, I think it’s worth it for the supposedly last NA 718.

It's not about thinking that way for most, it's about the reality of the world based on what I said in my last post. If you say I am wrong, you are in denial

not according to the us govt lol...

if you have 10 MIL of debt worth 20 MIL, you have a 10 MIL asset to your name... by and large thats how banking, the government, loans and our overall economy work... the moment that stops we will have a crash unlike we've ever seen before
