Oh, well then in that case, it's simple. You need a male perspective since we are used to trying to attract the opposite sex and dealing with them when they feel underappreciated and etc. Happily for you, this board is full of said perspectives.

I find the following tends to work well: Flowers, chocolate, the occasional blender thrown into the mix, and tell her you love her. Any of those work for you? Particularly the last bit?

I'm seriously worried. I don't care if I walk around with shoes in my hand. I can handle some girly touching by a stranger without killing her or him.

It makes me feel like shit when I can walk in to a bar in my sweats and be okay but my sis needs a boost and for that I'll be wearing clothes I don't and shoes I would burn.

I'm known around here. My attitude is legendary. I used to dance as a summer job so I have a tiny confidence boost most women don't. This isn't about me, or about religious views. This is about not being me, and for just one night, being what's needed for a family member.

Honestly - that last sentence is where you may go astray. Most of the time, what the family member needs is 'you being you' - regardless of what that means. I imagine that if you showed up in sweats and slops and cursed and threw coins at random strangers, she would still be stoked to spend time with 'sis'.

Nope. I snuck in some religion in there and if you think for a second I'm going to edit that out, you don't know me very well!

I said it before. Be you. You think you need to dress up for wherever you are going to, fine. Suck it up and do it. But be you when you are there. And be you at all times when you are with your sis. And stop moaning about having to wear something you don't like to wear and focus on being there for her. Who cares what you are wearing - I wear stuff from university days, that stuff is 17 years old by now and the shirts are still going strong as far as I'm concerned. If I keep them longer I'll have retro shirts without having to pay the associated price tag. Win win.

I went with lying. I dipped a door off and now I have to replace it. Now I have to get someone to cut some of my hair because they're still full of that asphalt black thingy and tar.
