Every situation and person is different. I think the general consensus is that lease popularity is on the rise and recently BMW has been pushing customers more toward purchasing.

I leased my last BMW. I purchased this one. The current rates for an e90 335 are not attractive to me so I am writing the dealership a large check instead.

I bought my E92 in 2007 and just bought an E90 with 0.9% BMWFS. Both cars will see less than 8000 miles/year, so for us, buying made more sense.

Leasing works for some people, buying works for some people. I was going to buy but got such a great lease deal and I expect to re-negotiate the buyout price to save a few thousand when I buy my car. It also gives me the freedom to get a brand new car with no strings attached when my lease is up.

bought my 335i as well. i've never leased a car before, but I'm not really fond of car payments. I'd much rather have a car and own it for a minimum of 6-8 years.

I bought my straight up cash. I refuse to buy cars used or on a lease but that's just me. I plan of selling my baby sometime in 2013 when the new 3-series arrives.

Leasing makes financial sense if you are self employed as you are able to deduct (for tax purposes) the entire lease payment (comprised of depreciation, interest and taxes) as opposed to buying where you can only deduct depreciation.

You don't take into account the peace of mind this awards and the lack of burden in a "what-if" situation. Investments don't always grow, and job security these days is more extinct than dinosaurs are.
