At what percent do you notice cops pulling you over for window tint?
Im looking at getting some darker window tint but i dont want it so dark that cops will pull me over for it. I wana find that sweet spot where cops dont look at me weird and its still fairly dark...

Have 15% now with no issues. Opening your sunroof cover will lighten the tint with the added sunlight coming through. Your interior color will make a huge difference as well. |

In PA - the magic number seems to be 35% all around.
I always ran 15% in the back / 35% in the front and would occasionally get pulled over. Never ticketed. Last 2 cars, 35%, no issues.

You should probably ask in your regional section. Here our side front windows can't be tinted so if the side rear windows are tinted and they are the same percentage it's obvious.
Mine are 50% and I got a ticket. When it's warm out, I roll my windows down when possible

Here I've never had issues at 15-20%. That being said when I bought the truck the tint was soooooo dark I couldn't see shit at night. So I went to have them replaced and found out they were about 3% in the rear and 8% in the fronts. Had it for like 6+ months like that no issues with cops.
Tint people said there were multiple layers of tint on that shit and the rears already come tinted from the factory to like 20%. |

In PA here and got some ceramic tint on mine. 85% on the front and 35% on all the rears. Never got hassled. I felt it gives the illusion that my rears look the legal 70% since I dont believe anything is legal up front. Could do 50 or 35 on the front and wouldnt be worried about the cops at all. I got 35% in the back for the kid and 85% up front to keep some glare and heat down without running the risk of being bothered by the cops. 85 looks like nothing from the outside but from the inside has a somewhat glazed look in certain bright sunlight depending on the angle and how youre looking through it. The 85-35 blends really well at certain times and other times I wish I went darker up front. Buy tintprotector.com felt to save yourself a huge headache. The improvement in daytime visibility, heat reduction, and glare is nice. If you did 35% all around its still going to be pretty hot when you get in your car after 6-8hrs in the sun, but once the A/C is on it keeps it comfortable when youre driving. Cuts the headlight glare in your rear view mirror down a lot at night to. Just tint it in the summer when its really hot out so the tint clings faster.

If it's dark enough you won't ever notice them trying to pull you over right?

Around here tint is just an excuse-to-stop, so if you aren't acting suspicious or hooning around on city streets, I doubt they would stop you just for tint (per the 3 local LEO's I've had the chance to talk about this with. And I've not heard of it being an issue, but I don't run with a bunch of modders. I think if I were to cruise slowly through certain neighborhoods I'd get attention, but probably more for my lack of tint than for the windows. In the past, these things have actually helped by giving the cop an excuse for a non-moving violation ticket once they interact and see that I'm being polite about things - and no body in the trunk ("just don't look under the air cleaner, officer").

No tint allowed on fronts here. Got pulled over enough as a kid that I just haven't bothered with tint with my latest vehicles. I see a car every now and then with tinted fronts but not super common around here.
I agree with someone above - get what you like and view it as a luxury tax.

Agreed. I got pulled over once by a trooper who must have been blind. He thought my tint was too dark, but was surprised when he dropped the tint meter on it and it came back as 30% which is above the legal 28% in Florida. In 18 years of driving in South Florida, that was the only time I got pulled over for tint.
