Cool 2010 Camaro @ SEMA with 4 models. "BLACK" rulez! Anyone else dig the Camaro?

Spotted these 4 SEMA Camaros on Camaro5.

Camaro LS7 Concept
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Concept Camaro
Camaro BLACK Concept
Camaro GS Racer Concept

Check out the "BLACK" version
It looks awesome but would be sooo much upkeep to keep it clean

I'm still amazed that the SS V8 400hp version starts under $30k.

Out of all the retro muscle cars, the Camaro blows them all away. It looks great. The modding potential is phenominal.

Tell me bout it! Check out this GM performance parts website for these SEMA cars.

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/2008sema/

Features all the cars and every single mod on the cars. BMW needs to do stuff like this with their factory performance parts.

Thanks for posting.

I lean towards the Jr car myself. What is up with the tail pipes on the BLACK version? Is it just the angle?

Notice the ages of the men around the car.

Ok, I'm going to ask this question because I know very very little about the different muscle car models....

Is there or will there be a model higher than a SS?

I cannot believe I want to own a freakin Camaro......but I do!

I would take a combo of the JR bodykit and grills, the Black's exterior/interior color w/ angel eyes, and the LS7. Oh and probably save up for a lawyer to fight all the traffic tickets...

There are rumors of a Z28 model that will look better and perform better than the SS. Weird seeing how the SS used to be the highest camaro model you could get and the z28 was in the middle. My guess is that they will call it something other than z28...maybe ZR1?

That's the first I've heard of this. Very interesting if indeed true. But does raise the speculation about there being no Z28 option.

All I know is that there are two SS options. 1SS and 2SS.

Last week I had read a pdf saying the 1SS has engine L33 or something along those lines, and 2SS has engine L99.

Now I can't locate that info, but I do see that automatic is rated at 400hp and manual tranny is rated at 422hp.

Rumored Z28 will be Supercharged 500+ hp.

???
The first is the Camaro LS7 Concept inspired by the COPO Camaros of the late '60s. It features the GM Performance Parts LS7 Crate engine tuned to produce 550 horsepower thanks to a number of GMPP performance accessories. A Tremec six-speed manual handles shifting duties and is backed by Brembo brakes, 20-inch custom wheels and a lowered ride height.

The LS7 crate engine (part number 17802397) uses a high-performance replacement camshaft from GM Performance Parts (part number 12480033) to help it produce approximately 550 hp. Complementing upgrades include GM Performance Parts-developed headers and air-intake system that will be offered at the Camaro's launch in early 2009. The LS7 also is modified with a wet-sump oiling system; the production engine features a dry-sump system that requires an external oil tank.

Aside from the Corvette and the long forgotten Corvair, Camaro will be Chevy's only other real wheel drive passenger car to have an independent rear suspension. The marketing types are referring to Camaro's new rear suspension as a "4.5 link" system which employs a pair of stamped steel lower links, an upper steel formed link with a wide chassis attachment point and a narrow point at the knuckle (the 1.5 part of the link?) plus a stamped lower locating link. A stabilizer bar and progressive rate coil springs should allowed for a controlled ride and sharp handling.

Up front, Camaro once again shuns upper and lower control arms for a new multilink strut type front suspension with coils springs. Differing from the strut type front suspension of the 3rd Gen cars, this one is double ball-jointed for improved ride quality. The front stabilizer is termed direct acting and the power assisted with the variable ratio steering rack mounted ahead of the front axle. The suspension works with a 52% front and 48% rear weight distribution.

Stopping the new Camaro will once again be a four wheel antilock braking system, with single piston front calipers and aluminum rear calipers for LS and LT models. Those cars will have a hefty 12.64" front and 12.4 rear rotors. SS models step it up a bit by featuring Brembo front and rear aluminum four-piston calipers clamping 14-inch front and 14.4-inch rear rotors of 1.26 and 1.1 inches of thickness respectively.

While the 1969 Camaro was about lots of power with minimal regard to turning or stopping, the '10 version needs to operate an a realm not only unheard of, but also undreamed of in the '60s. Camaro uses the latest electronic nannies to assist in holding the car on the intended course. For those of you unfamiliar with GM's Stabilitrak, it is a system that uses the power and resources of the antilock braking system to apply selective brake pressure to any or all of the four wheels to keep the car going in the right direction. There are sensors which measure steering wheel angle, speed, and the vehicles yaw, and based on that data, the cars helps you from bending it. While the system works remarkably well, it can't bend the laws of physics so if you are going way too fast, you are going to make a lot of noise.

A benefit of adding Stabilitrak to the Camaros electronic array is Launch Control on SS models with manual transmissions. The system works in tandem with the standard traction control to limit wheel spin to an optimum level for consistant take-offs resulting in maximum acceleration. The Stabilitrak on SS cars also feature a Competitive/Sport modes which can benefit the experinced driver by having a lesser degree of intervention.
