Well, the best I ever played with was a snooker cue (when I lived in England). You end up having to replace tips all the time because the billiard balls are heavier than snooker balls, but the control and English you can get is amazing.

Having been born in the Philippines, billiards was a huge part pastime. I'd say visit the P.I. and grab yourself a nice Pampangan, handmade cue. The craftsmanship which goes into the making of these cues is unparalleled. Plus, they just look amazing. They stroke like nothing else and there is just something very organic about those cues. I suppose I'm bias, though.

Haha, I know, I was just kidding around. I'd say go with Lucasi cues or Cuetec. I have a Cuetec graphite cue and I love it.

Meh I don't like graphite. The shafts build up residue really quickly, so u either have to use a lot of chalk or use a glove...and gloves are ghey. Had one for a bit and got rid of it.
OP if you're just getting into pool, don't get too crazy. At first you won't even be able to tell much of a difference between a $100 and $1000 cue. If you're not looking to spend much money, I'd go with a Players cue. Other good, slightly more expensive brands (their entry-level lineup) are McDermott and Lucasi. Go with either 18 or 19oz weight. |
