What a Wonderful World -- Weiss and Wempe - Watchmakers

Weiss - Los Angeles
I love coming across something that looks like a great find, especially in watches. Recently, I discovered Weiss Watchmakers in Los Angeles, CA.

Weiss only have one style -- a field watch -- offered with a black or white dial. It's manually wound and 42mm. AT $850, it's not an unreasonable choice by any means. (http://weisswatchcompany.com/collect...eld-time-watch)

Wempe -- A DL Watch worth giving a good look.
Wempe (http://www.wempe-glashuette.de/index.php?lang=EN & (https://www.wempe.com/watch.html)) isn't all that well known, but they are worth checking out. Some of the bigger blogs have already written about them so I won't go on. Check the reviews here:
Side note:
Some folks have asked about BMW watches. The ones you'll likely see in BMW stores are the ones made by Tourneau. Tourneau is, of course, a major, major seller of watches of all sorts. Wempe is very much like Tourneau, except that Wempe is ahead of them when it comes to stepping up their game and making watches. They offer models for men and women.

Whereas the Tourneau watches I've come by are quartz models that are fine, but they are neither better or worse than any other quartz watch and Tourneau doesn't even offer them on their own website. Tourneau is little more than a factotum or contractor; they may actually more of a middle man and/or logistical facilitator. I don't know for sure as I'm not privy to the terms of their arrangements with companies like BMW, but I can look at a few facts and put two and two together. <wink>

Wempe is different. They make something which they are proud to put their own name on and sell openly in their stores.

All the best.

No, they aren't. Nor are they the ones made by Tourneau.

I like the Ball ones quite a lot.

All the best.
