For the first chart, is this for M2 only, all 2-series, or across all M/T BMWs? Can we also assume MDM in the chart = DTC for the non-M cars?
I never trust these charts because they never seem to specify which models they apply to e.g. m235i vs. m240i, whether any software changes are made for LCI, etc.

I drove a 218i convertible last time my M235i convertible was in for servicing. The 218 has Rev marching but my M235i doesn't. The 218 is a 2018 and my M235i is a 2015. Should mine have it? Is there any way to add it? |

No, the newer cars have a sensor to tell the car where the gear lever is which is how the ECU knows when to rev and what RPM to rev to in order to match engine speed. The first car to have this sensor was F80 M3 and then it started filtering into the rest of the lineup starting in model year 2016.

Forum fellow Tag did in May 2017 (he retooled a BMW chart for better understanding): see here. Back in the day I added his chart to the dedicated thread of 2015: see here (righteously adding: "Forum fellow Tag retooled the table to make it more intelligible"). Please mind giving credit to whom it belongs.

I have no idea why this was stickied or made into its own post. I did no such thing myself. Maybe an admin did it? Or I have amnesia because I don't remember making it. It's under the bmw news section as well for some reason. Again. I did not make this post nor am I taking credit for any of the information.
