^^^Love the conversion and the front-to-rear detail, Ed. That XT-2 is impressive.

Thanks Mark. I was very impressed how the camera handled on this trip. The biggest advantage over the X-T1 is the new joystick on back that you can move the focus points around with bringing it more in line with my Canons.

For those that have never been to Yosemite, when you enter the park though the south entrance (also known as the Wawona or Fresno entrance), you pass through a tunnel as you descend into the valley. This is the view you see upon exiting the tunnel, and thus the name of the parking area "Tunnel View". It is one of, if not the most, popular photo spots in the park. Even though I have dozens of shots from here, I get up there every visit.

Taking a look every chance you get has been one of the keys to my success. It'd be unusual to stop there and have that wonderful clear air, light and clouds on you first stop. If so, consider yourself extremely lucky. I DO believe in being there the right time of day, to increase my odds, but I also plan on repeated visits to get anything "special", like that shot.

Thanks guys. Yes luckily it rained the day before, so the first day I was there is was nice and clear. I saw the clouds from the valley floor, so I went up there that afternoon and got some wonderful shots. The next day there was not a cloud in the sky, so while the view was not as interesting, I was up there at the right time for a rainbow to show on the waterfall (Bridalveil). I haven't got to processing that day's shooting yet, but will post when I do.

So here is the next afternoon with the rainbow
Rainbow on Bridalveil by lennycarl08, on Flickr A link to a short video of the same. I am not a video guy, but the 7D2 was on a tripod, so I gave it a try. https://flic.kr/p/TYJ3GC |

Ed, your Yosemite shots are absolutely beautiful and amazing, both the mono and the colour. They really make me want to go there.
I'm glad you're enjoying your Fuji X-T2. I've had my X-T1 for just about a year now and coupled with the 10-24 lens I'm getting some great sky shots. Here's a sun halo from yesterday. Despite comments elsewhere, the seagull was not 'planted', just pure luck. A Lucky Shot by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

I'm not lazy, I just have nothing to add. Applies to Ed and Alan. Alan, we're watching a series on TV, from BBC on Netflix, called Shetland. They do their best to make it look dark and dank absolutely all the time. I point out to my wife when they filter a sunny day to make it look dreary. Anyway, I think of you and imagine that you know the real weather well.

I actually think they spoilt that series of Shetland by making it appear too dark and brooding. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks up on Shetland a few years ago and we had, in the main, the most amazing weather. OK, admittedly that was in the summer and as most of the islands are above 60 degrees north, they do have fairly short and dark winter days. My memory of that trip to The Shetland Isles was of good weather and friendly people. I'd had an ambition to go up to the northernmost point in The United Kingdom, Muckle Flugga, to photograph the lighthouse and the puffins, and managed to do both. However it was on the ferry back from Unst to Yell that I remember the friendliness of the Shetlanders. It is only a smallish ferry and, apart from a man with his van, we were the only other folk on board. The captain came down from the bridge and asked if we would like to go up to take a look, and he insisted that Judith should sit in his seat and steer the ship - so I got a pic.
