While waiting for Spa to start, I saw footage of Mick Schumacher see his dad's 1991 Jordan for the first time and driving it around Silverstone. Gorgeous looking car and oh, how I miss how F1 used to sound. I don't even care for Schumacher, and that was quite special.

And just saw the trailer. Yes, I'm looking forward to that too.

Loved the Jordan / Schumacher feature on the pre-race as well! One of my favorite all time F1 liveries and oh that sound! Can’t wait for the documentary! It looks like it will be a true celebration of the man.

I'm only MILDLY concerned as Netflix likes to do this bait and switch lately. Bob Ross documentary for example.

I just hope they don't do the same to Shumi.

Halfway through right now. Love it so far. Only criticism is some subtitles are difficult to read with the white text and a lot of light background colors.

A LOT is subtitled, as his wife and kids only speak German. I always watch these types of movies a couple of times because I miss so much video just reading the translations. It's also weird when they choose to change words that I don't think should be changed. One of the translations changed the obvious words "timid" and "timidity" to "shy." I'm nit-picking, but why change that?

The ONE thing I didn't like was this line from one of the guys about Senna's crash at Spa...

“Fact is what he {Senna} was doing when he went off the track, he was trying to stay ahead of Schumacher.”

Which is total bullshit. Senna's crash had nothing to do with how hard he was pushing, and he pushed that hard on every corner even without any competitors, as he was always racing himself until someone was right beside him.

That line is a black spot on an otherwise good movie. It jumps around a bit, and doesn't nearly tell the whole story, but it is what it is, no documovie is perfect.

The last 20 mins is gut wrenching. I'll just leave it at that as there's many on here with plans to watch it this weekend.

The line - "It's a bit…. Unfair." Fucking ouch. I didn't see a race car driver at that line, I saw a 14 year old boy.

Yea that really got me. As a father, that was tough to watch. I love celebrating the successes, however small they may be, of my children.

I've listened to a podcast with Mick on it. His parents did a great job raising him it seems. Very mature, confident, self aware kid. Hope he achieves whatever professional goals he has. And always praying for Michael….

Just reading about his accident again, I don't remember reading these parts:

"According to Bild, the F1 legend saw the daughter of one of his friends was in trouble.
He then left the piste to help, skiing into deep rocky snow. Investigators said Schumacher had deliberately chosen to go off-piste, an area between a red and blue piste that was clearly signposted. It was here Mr Schumacher hit a rock causing him to lose control."

"Mr Quincy who headed the investigation team into the accident said: ”[Mr Schumacher] is evidently an extremely good skier, but one of his skis hit a rock that was sticking out... it caused him to fall and he hit his head on the rock.”

"Despite wearing a helmet the racing star suffered severe brain damage."

"Investigators reconstructed the events leading up to the crash, largely through footage from a camera attached to Mr Schumacher’s helmet."

So sad.
