I love small sedans. With young kids it just makes the car still fun but still practical. I was expecting that they were making a 4 door version of the M2 at some point, and was planning to replace my S3 with it. I almost pulled the trigger on an M2 a few times, but the lack of 4 doors just made it a no go for me.
And to clarify, the whole reason I never moved to an RS3 when they came out is I Am not spending 65k on a front biased sedan. The RS3 is amazing in a straight line, but that doesn’t interest me. |

You know I've wanted to try the m235 engine 2 liter 4 cylinder and just test drove a x2 m235i. I must say it is one punchy engine with good torque through the range ..it got the x2 up and going. I'd suspect in a lighter sedan as this itll go too. But not rwd biased or manual avail.

Exactly! This is the replacement for the 320i in the US market. And that means sub $400 payments all day like the 320i was.
And people who want those kinds of payments are Honda, Kia, Toyota people that just want the badge.

A small car with FWD has more room in the cabin because there is no transmission/driveshaft tunnel. Who knew! Wow, what a design revelation BMW has come up with. They've invented the roomy, small FWD car!
This may start an industry trend.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

The 4 door coupes are perfect, I just don't happen to like this one very much. Then again this aimed more toward those who would drive a mini, not me. |

And that's the problem with these monstrosities - they are too big to be a proper coupe and the compromises made to fit in the 2 extra doors yet still have a sloping roofline make no sense. Why put in 2 extra doors to make it easier for people to get in and out of the rear if you are going to negate that by making any adults sitting back there have to to bend their head over? I agree with you, if you want a usable back seat, buy a SUV - or normal sedan. If you want a coupe, buy a bloody coupe and know that your rear seat is for occasional use only. |

I actually like it's design. The kidneys, the lights, the overal lines of the car. But it's too short and stubby. If you spread it over a bigger sceleton, it would look much much better. Why does a smaller and transversly placed engine make the front bonnet so fat?
