My obligatory 30-Rock:
It's interesting to see how much difference a small change in perspective makes.

I have a similar shot, Dave. But then I moved around to directly in front to take a second series. Very packed there today, as it probably is most days. Everyone shuffling for a shot. I also used ACR's correction tool to "stand the building up" a bit more. Here's a shot from the side by the flags. I was obviously further down the line of flags than your vantage point.

I also went to St. Patrick's cathedral, which is right there at The Rock. More obligatory shots.

We stood very close to the same spot. I also corrected the building perspective, using DxO Optics Pro. I was at 24mm on a full frame camera.

Direct sun on the bldg and reflecting in my face. I'm surprised there was no lens flare.

Thanks, Dave. That was the 10-22mm. The lighting sucked, but I was able to pull some decent color out of it. Very poor lighting in St. Pat's.

that's what I figured, but the lack of lens flare kind of caught me off-guard.

The 10-22 is awesome when it comes to resisting lens flare, but even so I expected it with that reflection shining right in my face.

My 430EX II that my folks got me for my birthday just came. Whenever I get something new my cats are the first to help me test it out.

Obviously much much better than the built in flash and I think it really made the details of her fur pop.

And here's a 100% crop of her eye. You can actually see the reflection of me laying on the ground taking the photo:

Did you bounce the flash for that? Cats can be pretty sensitive to flashes.

Nice shot in any case.

Thanks!

Yeah, I bounced it a bit off the wall about 4 feet behind me. I took one with it pointed slightly forward and it washed her out too much.

I just got back from a month vacation in San Francisco with a side trip to Monterey/Carmel. This is a snapshot that I took while walking around San Francisco. The skewed perspective kinda adds to the wierdness, I think.

While processing the photo, I noticed a guy laying on the bench on the bottom right.

I'm going to attach it to the forums instead of Flickr just in case she checks my Flickr (she never comes on here), but here is my most recent (and most expensive) purchase. I don't have a macro lens so I was limited to how much detail I could get.
