That accident was a few years back. Here is a link with more info. If I remember it right, the car spun and the guard rail entered from the rear. It sheared off all the posts while going backwards along the rail.

We had a plant manager who intentionally disconnected all of the exhaust fans at work, because he thought that they wasted heat and aircon. Every year, the city inspectors would cite us for not having working exhaust vents. The repair contractors would take out the year-old fans with ~12 hours of running total on them, and replace them with new fans that were un-wired again the next day.....

W….T….F!!!!?

I sure hope they didn't disconnect the general exhaust to include exhaust for restrooms.

Got damn. I mean, there is test and balance of airflow for a reason lol.

That plant manager have a P.E. Stamp In Mechanical Engineering?
He was stealing. He was probably selling the demoed equipment on eBay as gently used.

His only P.E. Stamp was in Physical Education!

I've worked there for over 35 years, and the in-house HVAC staff has been clueless the entire time. They don't even have a schedule to change filters, and the only time they get changed is when an air handler ices up and they need to call an external contractor to thaw it.

My office was in a brand new building for a few years. During construction, they were using room numbers on the blueprints. When the HVAC contractors wired the "placebo-stats" in every room, they used the room numbers that were stuck on the doors by someone who never saw the blueprints. To this day, I can turn the thermostat down in room 160 and freeze the people in room 167 out of their offices. Oh, look. The computerized dampers all passed their diagnostics...controlling ducts in the wrong rooms.....

Lol

This is when I take a can of air, turn it upside down, and freeze the t-stats.
Look at the BAS graphics and see which Terminal unit responds to the field sensor and show room to be freezing. Then look at the contract docs to see if the stat needs the signal wires pulled back into the correct room.

I would've guess alien anal probe if I'm being honest. Just based on the pictures.

This is how the technicians would fix the problem walking into the place with no background info. At the management level, it is more profitable for the contractor to pretend that nothing is wrong until the new construction warranty has expired and fixing their screw-up turns into billable hours.

Thankfully I don't work in the facilities department, because the contractor on that job would surely have put a hit out on me for cutting off their gravy train and exposing their incompetence. I figured out the root cause (room numbers changed mid-project), and have the old/new architectural drawings to create a translation table to fix the problem in an hour.....
