The injury-riddled Los Angeles Lakers have made a move to bolster their front court, reportedly acquiring center Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first round draft picks in 2008 and 2010, according to the Memphis Commercial-Appeal.

The trade gives the Grizzlies salary cap relief, as Brown's contract expires at the end of the season. The report also said that the Grizzlies had traded forward Stromile Swift to the New Jersey Nets for veteran center Jason Collins.

Im a fan of Kobe but he is rather boring this season, i like it when he ball hogs and scores like a million points a game.


I think he's trying too hard to be a role player, he's playing point guard instead of shooting guard...

Another example how Kobe can never win. It's alright though, Jordan had a lot of haters also. However, there is no doubting he is the best player in the NBA right now. I suggest for the haters to take the opportunity to enjoy watching his game while he still plays. You can continue to hate him, but 20 years from now you might regret not watching one the best NBA player ever.

BTW, when Bynum comes back, maybe Gasol should come off the bench so he can play with the Bench Mob and make the second unit strong. It will like back in November when they extended the lead big time everytime the 2nd unit comes out.

This was a good trade. Badly needed for the Lakers at this point, who have fallen to 6th in the west.

Im curious to know what's gone happen when Bynum comes back? is their going to be enough shots for Kobe, Bynum, Gasol, Odom and Fish.... Whatever the case may be it will be very entertaining!

So you're saying he's not an upgrade to Kwame? A rookie of the year in 2001, all star 2006, and FIBA champion is not an upgrade to Kwame?

Lakers were a championship hopefull right up to the point when Bynum got injured. By upgrading a backup center, why would they NOT be considered in the championship picture once Bynum returns?

Whether he's the missing piece or not, Gasol will surely be better than butterfingers kwame. Now, if Lakers could only do something about Luke Walton; trade him, permanently injure him, whatever. Everyone knows he's only in the NBA and starting on the lakers because of his daddy. Oh how sad it is to live in the shadow of a legend.

He'll look good next to Bynum as an anchor. Look at Oberto for the Spurs. He looks decent next to Duncan. Without Duncan he would be a scrub. Look at Ben Wallace. With Rasheed he was a DPOY candidate every year. Without him, now people are saying he looks old and slow. I bet he wouldn't be categorized like that if he was still in Detroit.

Regardless, at 20/9, he will help the Lakers more than he will hurt them. For what the Lakers gave up, it was a steal.

Kobe has been quite the facilitator this season, it's obvious you haven't been watching. When you have players like Smush, Kwame, Luke, and Lamar starting for you, I don't blame you for shooting the ball 30 times a game. Kobe was our best option. With the emergence of Bynum and Farmar this year, Kobe has been more than willing to share the rock. You gotta earn it man.
