Get your ammo while the getting is good (and relatively cheap).
Earlier this year, the govt bought 2 BILLION rounds of ammo http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Governm...-Of-Ammunition.
There were a lot of stories about it, but no one made *that* big a deal about it. A little research however, led to this bit of information that provides a little insight: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...8HT76620120629 Occam's razor at it's finest. People are so worried about gun control, guns won't matter if ammo supply dwindles. Talk about an end run. The govt. got the NRA so wound up with possible gun control legislation, they completely took their eyes off this. |

Then there are laws like this in CA, they did it in the name of birds.
http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/...ead-ammunition Can not use lead ammo anymore, so how do use a shotgun for small game hunting and such. Yeah is you can not ban the gun then ban everything around it to make it obsolete. If you can not buy raw lead in the US anymore how do you make Batteries, I guess our Batteries will be getting real expensive since it will lost lots of money to ship lead into the US verse just making it here. Some background information on the subject http://sreaves32.wordpress.com/2013/...l-gun-control/ |

You use steel or bismuth shot. It's hardly a ban on ammo, and the lead ban only applies to hunting rounds, not target loads.

Ammo isn't going anywhere. Even if the government banned it outright the stuff is just too easy to make. The raw materials are cheap and plentiful. It may go up in price however, now that people have proven that they will pay 30 cents a round for 22LR and 75 cents for 9mm a lot of stores are upping their prices. It might not be a bad idea to buy a few hundred rounds of your favorite caliber before it gets expensive.
22LR and 9mm seem to be the only calibers really affected however. .380 maybe too. Cheaper Than Dirt and Lucky Gunner can both go to hell. |

Perfect time to stock up from all of the dumbasses that maxed out their credit cards overpaying for Ammo and pmag's last winter.

I don't have anywhere to store more ammo. I'm out of room, i'd have to buy an ammo locker or something. Wife wouldn't be happy about that.

Paranoia indeed. Last I checked 9mm target is only about $.35 a round right now if you just want something without waiting for a deal. Some of us stocked up at a much better price on all of our ammo. The only ammo I did not stock up on was .223/.556 because I do not take my AR out as often as my shotguns or handguns.
I think it'll be a while before prices skyrocket again. While prices are low(er) it is never a bad idea to stock up what you can within your means though.

I'm regularly finding brass 5.56 for about $0.47, steel for about .28, and 9mm brass for .35. Not awful for the 9 and the steel, but it was only about 2 years ago when I could pick up 1200 round of M193 .223 for .27/round online, or a 420 round ammo box of M855 on stripper clips for .38/round at the store.
I haven't seen bullk .22 LR since Feb. At 4 cents per round it was in high demand since it was the only affordable thing to shoot. |
