^^ Like the framing (using the two cars) but find the background distracting. Great colours too.

So many things to remember... He just takes up so much room too, can be hard justifying bringing him along...

LOL

You should have asked to Dave. He pumped so much iron to handle his super tele lenses that he could had moved these in a breeze

I've been posting lots of raptors lately so, on a different tack, here's what they like to eat:

Interestingly I took a very similar shot (of a similar, but not identical, prey species) while out in the desert last week looking for lizards and snakes.

Yes. I would call mine a cotton tail and yours a jackrabbit, distinguished by its longer rear legs. There's a larger jack, common in West Texas, but I forget what we called that.

Whoa, flashback city. I once spent a week on the ground outside a small west Texas town called Wink. Most famous for the huge sinkhole that developed there once. Our scout chopper popped a tail rotor chip light while we were landing there to refuel and we had to wait for maintenance to come out and fix it. They changed the oil, then the gearbox, and then the sensor and still the light would come on when the engine spooled up. They finally figured out the light socket in the dashboard was shorting.

The thing I remember most about Wink was the utter isolation and the huge jackrabbits you'd see tearing across the fields. Those things are fast.

Yes indeed. I've seen plenty of adult jackrabbits in the desert, but it's been years since I actually managed to get a picture of one. They hear you from a mile away and just go jackrabbitting off. The one I snapped was a juvenile, chilly and hunkering down just before dawn.

The surprising thing about jackrabbits is that they're BIG. From those monster ears to those cartoon clown shoe rear feet a full grown adult must span almost 3 feet in mid leap. No wonder they call 'em jackalopes.

On the other end of the lepus spectrum we have piles of Cottontail rabbits right around my home (in what is tellingly known as the Conejo Valley). Any evening you'll find 1 or 2 of them in every yard. Keeps the local coyote population fat and happy.

It's about to get interesting here.....
hope this front passes by.

supposed to have hail and about 55mph winds here tonight. My poor jeep parked outside.... Well, that's what insurance is for, though I can't see them repairing it. It's a heap on wheels.

starting to look like I might be able to attempt some lightning shots shortly. The flashes are off on the horrizon, but it's headed this way, we'll see what's what shortly.

I waded out into this field today to try to capture the extreme "yellowness" of the scene. Blinding in the bright sun with hundreds of acres of yellow all around. No UWA with me, just my new Roki 35mm f1.4 on my T1i.

Another in my continuing cornfield series. Again with the Roki 35mm. Love the bokeh.

Excellent shots with the Rokinon, how do you like it? I'd love to try one but have been debating...
