3.0 CSL vs. M4 CSL what is the difference?

I’m obviously not up on my rare BMW variants but these cars seem awfully similar to the casual observer (apart from the front grille).

M4 CSL is a special M4; is the 3.0 CSL just a special-er M4 CSL?

Be nice.

It’s exactly what it is. Mostly hand built and with a different body. They’re cashing in on the collectible status by hand building them and limiting production to 50.

As a car, it’s not 7 times what an M4 is, but price never follows the same logic anyway (as an M4 CSL is not twice as good as an M4.

Looks how the regular M4 should’ve looked though.

For the money BMW is rumored to be asking, this car should have been exactly what the prototype was. There's no chance any of them see public roads, so making it street legal even seems pointless. BMW got it so, so right with the prototype and then laid a big egg with this one. It's an M4 with tack-ons. I'm not in the market for any car in this price point, but they missed the boat with the CSL.

The difference? An obscene amount of money for those with more money than sense.

Mustang from the side, and that front grill does not work, If I had the choice, M4 CSL > this

Thanks for the responses. These two cars are too similar (in release date and foundation) to me. If I owned one I’d be annoyed to share the spotlight with the other. Wishful thinking!

In general it’s like they’re going to slap CS and CSL on everything now that they’ve slapped M on everything.

How much do you think BMW could charge if they built it on the 2-series platform?
