You CAN shoot brackets hand-held. Photoshop and several other softwares will auto-align the images and merge. I don't know your camera body, but many dslrs will allow have an auto-bracket setting, so you don't have to take the camera away from your face. It actually works very well.

That's true... But, three consecutive hand-held shots at 1/5s isn't easy.

Yeah, the foreground dark area is clipped beyond recovery. You could crop in a bit tighter and remove the negative space and the woman on the left. There is some recoverable detail in the overhead beams, so cropping in and adjusting the exposure around the beams might help.

A nice bounced flash would have been the deal there. But a big flash unit can be a pain to haul around on a walking trip.

Interesting story behind this one:

Macedonian gentleman has had this boat for 2-3 years and got stranded on Broad River the night before when his outboard went out. I was out there early in the morning after dropping rugrats at school. He bought the boat for $600 and put about $1000 into it after that fact. (Not including his current issue with the outboard motor). I chatted him up a bit and gave him some bug spray (the sand gnats are atrocious in this area in the early morning and evening..horrible little creatures worse than mosquitoes):

Nice shot, Marc. Although if you have a blow boat and it's properly configured, you should never be stranded just 'cause the motor died.

I love B&W sports photography, it really gives the images a very different feel.

Two years ago almost to this moment we were standing in Salzburg as I took this picture. Wish I was there now instead of sitting at home dealing with a nasty cold.

Nice shot, Dave. Good Rule of Thirds composition and very nice light. You might try hitting the sky and lake with the adjustment brush in ACR (or DxO if it has such a thing) and drop the exposure in those areas just a tad to bring out the detail in the sky and water without messing with the perfect light on the trees and shoreline.

Or not.
