Twisted cedar at the Grand Canyon:

IMG_3671_DxO by dcstep, on Flickr

This was taken at the Grand Canyon last November. I blessed with an ideal snow for photography while at one of the most magical places in the world.

Nasty outbreak of T-Storms here today. I was driving in and noticed what I first thought was road salt. Then it dawned on me that it was hail that had fallen just before I got there. Glad I was running late.

Not a chance. Between the weather forecast and the fact that today is "Unofficial St. Patrick's Day" on campus, I left the Z safely at home in the garage. Last thing I wanted to risk is some drunk kid barfing on my softtop.

Walking around for 3 hours.. two things:

1. its very difficult to find anything interesting to shoot

2. the crumbler backpack is very comfortable

If I can find things to shoot out here surrounded by miles of brown dirt, you should be able to find something of interest in Cyprus. I have a friend who lives near the coast in Massachusetts *and* he lives next to a lake and conservation land. And he complains about not having anything to shoot. Drives me nuts.

you're being too picky then. Sometimes the most boring things can be the most interesting...

It was hard getting the focus right, but I think I did well. Two lenses and a mirror does not make an easy shot.

Now see, that's a cool picture. I think you should try cloning out the lights and the lighten the whole image a bit.

Is this a junk heap under two telephone wires with clouds OOF, or what? I'm thinking there's something that I'm supposed to recognize here, but I'm not seeing it.

when I process, I tend to knock my exposures up about .5 ore more before exporting to JPG

then when it's exported to JPG it's usually where I want it.

Hope you don't mind me playing around with it, panicos, but here's my take. Looks like one of Ryan Bliss's Digital Blasphemy images.
